Ross Barkley

Barkley's biggest weakness and worry is his head. The ability and skills are top but that goes for nothing if not connected with confidence. When he is confident he plays well or superb but when he is nervous (and he is very often when we do not perform) we play 10 men - he is terrible then. It is the thing that can be worked on in some little way but either you have balls and mental strenght (Bešić is an example of that kind of player) or you don't. And in Ross' case that is and will be a difference between a very good player and a top class player.

That might be good for us as big spending "top" clubs won't be that desperate to get him and i can see Ross playing etire career for the Great Everton

On another night he has an assist and a world class goal and a motm award, imagine being a techincal footballer and then your manager surrounds with a group of players, none of which have the ability or inclination to link up with you, lennon, kone, rom, and the worst two culprits barry and mccarthy. Ross can pick the ball up and no matter which way he faces there isn't anyone near him unless baines and coleman are up, thathas the attributes to play top class link up play. No coincidence how much his play improved once Besic came on

He does my head in. Probably because anyone can see how good he can be.

I can accept some of his stuff not coming off, I can accept him dawdling on the ball for slightly too long. I do not accept the lack of effort he puts in when he doesnt have the ball.

He did make a very good tackle last night, sliding in right in front of the travelling support (amazingly enough), and the ref blew for a foul. He probably won't bother again now.

Usual mix last night, played very well in snatches, looked so much better when he tried to drive at their defence rather than the virtually standing still dawdling as you say. A couple of the usual woefully under hit cross field passes thrown in for good measure, that were easily intercepted.

Everyone's fault but Ross' as usual. Doesn't explain his nothing performances for England. But then of course that's Roy's fault..

One thing to be said in his defence after last night is that the only times Everton looked vaguely threatening were when he took it upon himself to do a Gazza run, clearing basically the length of the pitch on his own.

Martinez has played his part in him letting him establish himself as first team-ready, but I think he needs someone more hands on to develop from here.

of course it is to your dinosaur views, can just see you and your fellow has beens in the park end, 'GET RID ROSS'

You can pretend he's amazing if you want. You can pretend that him and Lukaku rip the league to bits, that's fine with me. I tend to look at league tables and stuff though.

keep looking at your stuff then, and pray we get rid of ross and rom and the 50 goals they are responsible for this season, lets hope we get some work horses in to run them channels eh, and chase them long balls
