Ross Barkley

I don't think he's 'fat' - but he carries himself in a weird way, like a bit of a preening gym-head... the frustrating moments when he doesn't track back I am convinced are a result of him not being the 'brightest spark' & not being able to process Boberto's (albeit pointless) instruction... an area where Alli perhaps has the edge on him, as a footballer.

Love him, though - if we get out of this crap, slow build-up mantra which stifles what he's good at then we'll see him thriving again next season. World class talent and unplayable when on all cylinders.

I bet you don't have a six pack Tubster

Here he is watching the match at home yesterday !

Dont think he is carrying excess fat at all but theres no denying that he's filled out so much, maybe too much. It doesnt seem to be affecting his overall fitness in terms of distance covered but every little short burst of energy he uses to go on one of his forward runs has him blowing and takes him 5 minutes to recover. Maybe some fitness expert can explain.

Love to. He's on the ale or worse , seen it all before.

Had no idea that ross was asthmatic, surely the added muscle he has put on over the last year or so is not helping him perform at his best as more muscle = more oxygen use, you would think someone has brought this up to him before unless its not overly serious but must be quite bad if he needs to use an inhaler before going out for the 2nd half.

Then again many of our players look shattered at the end of games or even way before the final whistle so mabe its negligence from our fitness department.

I agree he seems to look a tad sluggish, but I think its far more likely to be from the bench. He carries himself like a gym monkey, a rugby player if you will. Its easier to get from this place than to it however, so am sure it will pass as a phase.

Fitness plagued the team for sure, coupled with poor tactics that does not really help the players succeed in my opinion. e.g. they can only have one good half, is it just fitness? Or that tactics (and coaching) doesn't help them to manage the ebbs and flows of the game where they can keep their level of play at a high level?

I like Barkley and think with a better coaching setup, we can make him (and other players) be great players. Again, appointing that important coach is key.

One thing I was delighted to see in Ross on Saturday was the anger that sparked within him when Herrera dragged him down, he was up and ready to burst the blert and that pleased me... not that he wanted to potentially get violent, more that he was showed his anger and frustration 'cos I think that rubbed off onto some of the others.
