Ross Barkley

He just seems unsure of himself all the time. His confidence has gone I think. New coach can sort that i am sure.

Martinez was wrong to coach him in that way: that Ross is allowed to make all the mistakes in the world.

A hard-boiled coach like a Ferguson who'll iron out the rough edges and instill energetic discipline (ala Giggs/Rooney) is required to bring the best out of Ross.

completely blown his euro 2016 chances along with jags and baines. Might make the 23 but won't get a sniff of a game.

Barkley was awful yesterday, looked shot to pieces and seemed to have no idea what his role in the team was. He had a very good first half of the season but has gone backwards in recent weeks as the team themselves have gone backwards. Little point playing him again this season in this frame of mind, lacking confidence and looking lost.

I thought he was much better for Bournemouth but seems unsure of his current role

Lost his place in the England team to Alli which is a shame.

Potentially a great player being badly let down by the manager and coaching staff, when he needs to be taken out of the firing line, do,it. Decide what is his best position and play him there, work on his fitness levels and stop telling him it is ok to make mistakes.

I think Ross is old enough to no he needs to iron out his mistakes and that's it shouldn't need anyone else to tell him getting paid enough shouldn't be making any train everyday of the week

I think the whole current situation at Goodison has blown the lads chances at the Euro, anyone would look bad in our team at the moment I just hope Hodgson looks beyond our finish to the season and how well Ross has played for club and country over the whole of the season.

An excellent start to the season has faded into a bit of a mess, to the point where I wouldn't be surprised if that old git Hodgson leaves him out of the 23. I don't think he's ever really fancied Barkley and recent form has given him the perfect excuse to leave Ross at home.

Hopefully a new manager can get a grip of Barkley next season and get him contributing off the ball. There's an out and out centre mid in there if someone puts the time in to teach him the arts of the game.

Martinez' approach of letting the players do whatever they want on the pitch can get short term results but it's probably been horrible for Barkley's game in the long run. Players need to learn tactical discipline and that is just so abundantly missing in Barkley. There's so much talent but too often it's wasted through a lack of understanding of how to apply it.

That mentality needs sorting out as well. Couldn't believe the video of Jagielka reassuring him during the semi final. Although I think a lot of that is down to the manager and his comments throughout the season.
