I agree with Thierry Henry here (unpopular opinion). We judge young players on potential far too much. If they aren't performing they need to prove they are good enough not just get shoe horned in because they may turn out good. Barkley falls in to this category right now

Still don't buy it.

A complete midfielder? Would you say Ozil was a complete midfielder? Del Bruyne? Just a few examples.

No, they're very good at what they do.

No one ever complains they don't track back, tackle, get box to box etc. They're played in a system that works for them

Koeman wants him to play a certain way. Which the more it goes on, doesnt seem like he can

Pretty much this, stop expecting him to do things he's never going to do.

barkley is not even close as a attacking threat to those two players and would probably argue they run a bit more barkley....ok maybe not ozil

They are both a lot more productive than Barkley though. He needs to learn to put himself about more if he's going to fulfill his potential.

Having said that. He's better than McCarthy and Cleverley and should be starting ahead of them.
 
Ross shouldn't be in this team if the tactics are to just hoof it up and win the knock downs. it's absolutely drab. you could put any play maker in midfield but if the ball is going over their head all game what's the point? I'm gutted for the lad because he needs game time but he needs to be allowed to play his game. is anyone enjoying koemans take on how we should play? I certainly am not.

Wasn't comparing. But he is a type of creative attacking player, not this myth box to box tackling etc player some people want him to be.

Maybe because hes English and that's whst we want.

If he was Spanish etc, they'd utilise what he can do, not what he can't which is why I mentioned your Ozils etc.
