2017/18 Ross Barkley

Not being bed in to the team, not having time to settle into a new location, not getting to participate in preseason training and improving for your fitness as well as learning what the manager wants from you.

All to save a couple of mill, sounds plausible in this day and age of multi billion pound commercial deals

Spurs have literally a squad of 21 senior players given squad numbers, 2 are youth players, and about 5 players injured/not fully fit.

I'm pretty sure they do need players asap but are choosing to bide time for better deals.

What's the incentive for a buying club who have him in their pocket right now to pay more than Everton want? The club will get nothing next season. £20M now can go toward a decent CB and LB.

Because when his contract runs out next season, they risk losing Ross to a lot more interest from lots of other clubs with him being available for free.

I'm sorry but Barkley is nowhere near Coleman's level before he got injured. You can make an argument for the majority of the squad, but Coleman was one of the top RB's in the league.

its a stupid comparison anyway, they are two completely different players with completely different skillsets.

Barkley would be a woeful right back and Coleman would be a woeful attacking mid

Also Colemans form had dipped long before his injury.

What people aren't seeming to grasp is it's not the absence of Barkley that is killing us (albeit I would welcome him with open arms into the team). It's Koeman's oddball selections that are making us look like scrubs. Notice how Lookman came into the game and everything changed around. He needs to be smarter with his selections.

Niasse is an International, guess he must be boss. Your point about Cleverly is an absolute train wreck as well. You think Watford etc wouldn't want Barkley ? Lol..

Watford? didn't bid thou, just like every other Premier League side so far, which speaks volumes

What you mean in the two game we have played so far, both of which we won with a clean sheet? Nothing wrong with his selections at all so far, the performance might not of been visually stimulating but all that counts is the result

Offensively we have been horrendous. If we come into a game the way we have this preseason/Europa against the likes of ManU, Chelsea, City, Liverpool, we will be absolutely slaughtered. Our defense being solid can't carry us through the whole season. We have to control the midfield and have scoring options

It's a logical fallacy to assume that because a team doesn't bid for someone its because they think they are rubbish.

So if any of our better players, such as Morgan, Gana, Pickford, Keane, Coleman or Baines were openly for sale, with one year left and it had been publically state then can go, you dont think anyone would bid for them? Not even a brighton or a Swansea for 15m?

Good players get bids, even when they arnt for sale IE Siggy, Barkley has had none.

You mean he has to play the team you'd pick or else win, draw or lose your going to slate him.

Snides - Been here half a season and has been decent at times but hasn't shown anything in particular to get hyped over.
Gana - Top grinder, not the greatest of footballers though
Pickford/Keane - Played a grand total of 1 competitive match for us
Coleman - He's ace, love him... but wouldn't ever try and claim he's better at football than Barkley
Baines - Miles past his best

So yes, I rate Barkley higher than all of them and I'm fairly sure many other people do as well.

Hard to look past that analysis.

Keanes had two games and Pickford one. Both look promising but early days.
Morgan has been underwhelming at times alright.

Coleman is magic though. I hope he comes back from this leg break.

What of Ross?? Surely he will still leave

No, I never said that and nothing in my posts even came close to suggesting such a thing

That is such a ridiculously simplistic view I don't even know where to begin in terms of addressing it.

For starters, how about actually letting the transfer window come to a close....
