It does seem odd, to be generous, but in the absence of any peeps from Ross, actual valid reasons for wanting to move, and basically, the vacuum around this saga, any half credible theories will gain traction.

And their is a narrative that could be built to support this scenario after all.

There's a narrative that's been running for years on that theme. However, it hasn't ever been a trigger for a move away.

A void just loves to be filled. Barkley and the club not giving out creditable information so people fill in the blanks. When a player says he wants to leave late on in his contract then the club is over a barrel. I really don't care why he wants to leave, I do care that we are on the brink of a resurgence and he wants to leave.
We were good enough for him when we were middle order but now we might challenge for the top six he needs a new challenge.
Get the best fee possible and ask him to shut the door on his way out.

Sure I read somewhere (don't hold me to it though) that he had a couple of fallings out at Southampton, think one of the players mentioned was Tadic.

I've been saying all along that (IMO like) Koeman and Barkley's relationship has become that strained that there is no going back, and Barkley probably feels the only thing to do is move on.

Have to say I'm not buying these hitman GTA rumours banishing him to London - Sam Walker as one example was only recently posting on Facebook and Instagram about going to tons of places in London to meet someone for a fight but they kept not turning up and changing the location and were scared. He even mentions being in Islington all day waiting for the guy he was after - not too far from Spurs?!
