If he had his heart set on Spurs why is he at Chelsea's training ground? He could reject it completely a la Sissoko to us.

Bingo, it stinks of the club ie owner etc trying to gary speed barkley, makes me wonder just how lucrative that new contract he was offered really was, so far only ever heard one side of that story...

Despite my previous #banterous post, it's all heart scans, body composition, muscle measurement and stuff.
Barkley's people are denying a medical took place. It may be down to how you define medical. A full one obviously wasn't possible given his injury.
Suspect he was in London hoping for Spurs but was told to go to Chelsea. He was probably tempted but not convinced while there.
Cost us a fortune. Sigh.

hes been tapped up imo.

'don't sign for them , wait until January, sign for us and the money we save on your transfer fee we will pay extra on your wages'

ross barkley is clearly not the brains of britain , its his agent , paul martin who is evertons public enemy number 1.
after his involvement in jack rodwell and john stones deals, I'm putting money on the club tapping him up is man city.

theres shady things going on.

But... why agree terms and be invited for a medical then? That just isn't the way it works. I mean he literally signed for Chelsea - the medical is the very final step before filing the paperwork, and even before that the deal sheet would have been in.

There's last minute and then there's last minute! I've never heard of this happening before.

There may be more to it I just think he hoped that this would alert Spurs and it backfired for him. Spurs have from what's been said in the media always said they wouldn't over pay for him

Plus the fact he's out until January anyway it would be mad for any club to sign him now for an inflated fee unless. Chelsea were happy to do it probably to try and get an edge over Spurs

Maybe he had decided to go to Chelsea after lack of spurs interested but then got cold feet and decided to hold out for spurs. Maybe spurs found out he was at Chelsea and told his agent to hold out until January when they can get him cheap ? Maybe it was an elaborate attempt to get spurs to make a move ? Who knows.

Either way he's ultimately allowed to choose who he works for, it just sucks that we lose out on good money but morally he's not really done anything wrong.

He's got about 1 week to issue a statement clarifying the situation and how much he loves Everton otherwise

Roscoe they're booing you

To be honest, that's the only thing that makes sense at this point - that he got cold feet and wanted to stay at Everton.

I'm not prepared anything that the fraud Moshiri says at this point, so I'm awaiting clarification. But at this point, he's either been horribly advised and wised up at the last possible moment when reality set in, or he's been poorly advised and he's the biggest snake in the history of our club.

It's wait and see time I guess.

Presumably Spurs. Like anyone in the world, he's free to choose where he works. I know football fans have trouble with this concept though.

Of course he does. And we are free to not allow him to train or receive medical treatment, but we'll still put the money in the bank for him......

Look, you know I'm a Barkley fan, and all that would have made sense - if he hadn't agreed terms with the club, had a medical arranged and, by dropping out, effectively robbed us of £35m at the latest possible moment.

That's the killer for me. He agreed to the move, and then suddenly didn't. If Chelsea's bid had came in and then he put his cards on the table and said no, then fine. Not ideal, but fine. But to do this... it's a new level of dickishness if the reason is to run out his contract.

Gotcha. Knew I was missing some kind of point in all the fume.

I'll await the dust to settle further though

Either of your options means he screws our club.......

But you don't agree terms and go for a medical in that scenario mate. It doesn't happen. Look at Sissoko with us - sure, options open, use one club as leverage to another, but you don't call the bluff to the point where you sign the papers, agree a wage and turn up for a medical!!!
