2017/18 Ross Barkley

What a farce.Unless Ross changes his mind and decides to stay, then he will be sold in January for a lot less then what we would have got, if he was sold this summer.Once Barkley didn't sign the contract to the deadline, then he should have been transfer listed end of story.Instead no one did anything and the situation was left in limbo. This issue required decisive action and leadership from the board and manager, and it failed to happen.

This is spot on. My preference was that someone get an arm around him and he gets game time with all our extra Euro ties.

But the reality of an injury puts paid to that and now we seem to have a disaffected, unfit, Ross who's also not attracting serious buyers. Telling.

This is gonna hang around until Jan, now , with lower bids, without him playing.

That's a Lose lose lose. Quick action to sell or reintegrate would have solved it either way.

Final thoughts:

In fairness to Ronko - maybe Ross is just holding out for a free and bigger wages. I'll never forget Dan Gosling did something similar with Newcastle.

But this is still a black mark since we're also now without a striker ( we needed two ), and completes a hat trick of signing cock ups.

OR....an alternative but blue-tinted specs view....he bottled it because he realises deep down his heart and soul is with Everton, he was being badly advised, didn't really want to play alongside the likes of Hazard et al when he could play alongside Roo and the thought of moving to the leafy suburbs of Surrey or continuing to live in the grim streets of Liverpool was a no brainer decision.

Perhaps he will don sack cloth and go crawling in to USM FF today, through himself prostrate in front of Koeman and say...'Forgive me Daddy, but I have sinned. Please take me back. I now see the light'.

Nah, sorry to say it but other than occasional glimpses of genius always thought the lad was clueless both on and off the pitch. IF he has done what he has done purely to gain greater fiscal advantage come January or next Summer at the expense of Everton then in my eyes he has ceased to exist. Time will tell but if it is a genuine about turn in his mind set and a desire to stay with Everton then by heck he will have some making up to do to the fans. Realistically, just think he preferred Spurs and the thought of playing alongside Dele Ali and Kane.

Dan Gosling did it and footballers do it all the time. But we expect better from one of our own.

He is a young lad who is obviously struggling with confidence and doesn't know what he waves.

Maybe, just maybe, he has the medical and did genuinely think 'what an I doing?'

Let's see his attitude from here on in before we start calling him more names. He could even sign soon after thinking, talking with Wayne and Ron.

He hasn't had a year to choose between Chelsea and Spurs. He's had a year to choose whether he wants to sign a new contract or not.

So you are saying that during that time it didn't occur to him that either of these clubs may come in for him, or indeed another club, and that he's just sat there only thinking about the Everton contract......

Unless he signs a new deal he's put his career on hold with zero guarantees.

Let's agree that his agent knew Spurs etc were interested in the summer so he didn't sign. The fact he's not signed for them at the end of the window and is waiting in Jan doesn't mean, like last night, they'll sign him.

He'll end up at West Ham.

If he doesn't sign a new contract with the club in the next week I'd be having a good long look at his current contract and what he'd still be expected to do for the club even though he's injured.

Can fully understand the "let him in rot in the reserves" calls but I'd be doing the exact opposite. He'd be expected to do everything possible to get himself fit, carry out as many in the community obligations whilst not being able to play. He'd be expected to sit with the team at the next game at Goodison. If he fails to comply with these obligations then we fine him his wages etc. If he gets himself fit he sits on the bench week after week after week ( a bit self defeating if we don't intend to play him I know).

I think I'd just like him to not have a soft option with facing the fans and his teammates if, as most expect he doesn't sign a new contract with us.

Mate, our Majority Shareholder was on live tv last night telling everyone that the lad has told the Club he wants to wait until January before sorting everything out and seemed to make it clear the lad has no future at Everton.

So maybe just maybe people are clutching at straws thinking the lad has swerved Chelsea to stay at Everton for the long term.

I think Everton have no obligation to this dimwit and his agent any more
Gardening leave, no access to club facilities or staff
Bye Ross, hope that professional career and wages and signing on fee goes well when you wont be allowed to train with a team for 12 months

Agree with this, no access to facilities other than obligated, medical perhaps for rehab, but no training, no kit, not even a shower.

Withdraw contract offer immediately, don't sell in January, no access to football until his contract runs out, absolutely no chance of a place at the world cup.

Above all else, don't let this situation happen again, very amateurish.
