2017/18 Ross Barkley

Largely agree with the comments about "gardening leave". If he does not have the daily discipline of the club, he could well end up fading away from football altogether - frankly it would not bother me one jot.

I don't actually think that's true, Chelsea are a bit light in central midfield.

Agreed that they have maybe sold unwisely but can you really see him ahead of Fabregas or Willian dictating play? And if you have either of them on the pitch with defensive cover of Kante or Bakayoko, would he really displace Pedro or Hazard on the wing?

Chelsea are looking for homegrown cover only. Why else would you bring in Drinkwater when you have their resources? 10 - 15 games max a season ... is that enough when you're the next big thing?

This is directly comparable to the Rooney situation 13 years ago. Agent driving a young blue to leaving.

Except Rooney just left, and arguably was sold to pay the bills .

Barkley shouldn't be allowed to act like this. When will the club grow a back bone and do something about it? Say something about it behind a throwaway comment? The lad has refused to commit to the club and now has walked out on us getting money for him in the process as he wants to assess his options?

[Poor language removed] him. Sorry but if you thought lukaku thought he was bigger than the club then what is Ross doing? Yes he is being poorly advised by his agent but the point is he is messing the club around for his own interests. 30 million we have lost on not selling him, and all it will end up with is him lining his pockets instead.

Until he signs a new contract, he shouldn't kick another ball for this club. He wants to assess his options? Then he can do it out of the first team when he is fit , stick him in the under 23s. No player should be acting the way he is and still be treated like part of the club.

If he signs a new contract then all of the above doesn't matter and I would be happy to see him back in the team. If he doesn't want to play for us though, give him that wish

Ross doesn't do himself any favours though does he

Don't blame him, no matter what he does some people are never happy.

End of the day he signed a contract with us and he's well within his rights to see that contract out and move on for nothing to a club he wants to play for.

This really could come back to bite him and I hope it does. I can't see him getting any minutes between now and January unless we have a few injuries. In that time someone else could take Chelsea or Tottenhams eye and they switch targets. Then where does he go. I can't see Chelsea being happy with the snub. I would imagine the new deal here is off the table

As extreme as it may be, if the club wanted to have a back bone then withdraw the contract and tell him he is going. Don't play him again and make him beg us if he wants to stay.

See if his tune changes when he runs the risk of no club wanting him in January

I want what's best for Everton not what's best for Ross Barkley. We stuck by him through the double leg break. He could have and should have become a club legend. It's not the same as when Rooney left we were crap then and he needed to go for us and for him. Everton are close to where we want to be. He could have been part of that. Rooney sees it why doesn't Ross.
