lets try and look at this from a few view points that we know are true.
since ross signed his last contract , on that day we had a squad with years of potential in the form of lukaku deulofeu stones and ross himself.
we had a manager who was finding those kind of 'wonderkids' any champ manager fan would appreciate shall we say.
the club then got sold to man who was talking about 'a project'.
since then , the manager turned sour , as did results, the manager was sacked , another big name manager came in who also talked about 'a project'. that manager also openly criticised the ross in the media.
one of the 'jewels' was sold to man city and replaced with a older player looking for a last contract.
one of the jewels was shipped out on loan then sold to Barcelona and wasn't replaced.
another jewel was sold to man utd , and replaced with another older player looking for a last contract.
the policy has been pretty much sell to buy , the kind of players we have sold should be the kind of players we are bringing in.
whether it was their choice or not is irrelevant , it shows those players didn't 'buy' into the clubs said 'project'
if i was being harsh i could say , the players bought in have either been top 5 players who couldn't get into there teams , players towards the end of their careers, the best of the rest (mid table teams) , youth players or relegation players.
we have yet to sign a top tier world class finished article player in his prime.
so perhaps ross feels hard done by , and doesn't buy into that there is a real 'project' that is looking to compete with the best again ?
from the clubs point of view , they have reinvested the money back into the squad.
they have reached europe , and have a new stadium planned.
they offered ross a new contract , he declined.
they had to plan to what ross has told them.
they have bought in 3 players that can play ross's roll.
they accepted on offer for the fee they see he is worth , to the English champions who are also in the champions league. what more could ross ask for?
so who's at fault ? first the club , they have failed to get the players on board with their 'project' , and each player they have failed with has had a knock on effect to the next.
its looks like selling from the top to buy below, and although the players have been coming into the squad , the level is still 'best of the rest' perhaps and not better than what's left.(again , maybe thats harsh)
they also come across as very unprofessional by letting it get to this point.(oh and for moshiri to pop up on sky was ridiculous and made me cringe tbh.)
also ross , himself. if he loved the club and its fans , he would realise that he is 'everton' . he can lead by example and be the catalyst to why players shouldn't leave and why top players should come. instead he has looked a fool , greedy, childish and very unloyal and made a fool of those who put ther faith love and support into him.
if a player like ross isn't loyal to the club and its fans , then who the hell is and can be ?
the whole thing is embarrassing and sad. its also not moshiri koeman or barkley who will take the brunt, its the fans who are getting shafted.
we will be here when everyone else is gone and counting their millions.
