2017/18 Ross Barkley

We must be tapping up with magic spells or something for him to refuse to join a club that did better than us last season, wins more trophies and pays higher wages. Or perhaps there's more to it.

It's always been spurs. It's been rumoured since last winter. This is classic Levy. I'm gobsmacked you can't see it. Let everton pay an injured player for another season and get him on a free. This is Levys dream transfer scenario.

I just don't see how the logical conclusion is that Ross agreed to wait it out until January just to save Tottenham a few bucks and screw over his boyhood club. I don't see what he gains from that or how that is any way a reasonable conclusion.

If I'm Ross in that situation and I see Chelsea want me so bad they are willing to pay £35m now but Spurs are messing about just to save a few quid I'm telling them to do one and joining the club that clearly wants me more.

It's obvious there is more to it.
Why? No one knows but why are you assuming he sees no difference in Chelsea and you guys? Different manager, differently run club. Maybe he doesn't think Conte will be there next season and sees you all, rightly, as a more stable option. And also saying we should've accepted 5m less? I honestly don't get any of what you're saying.

Completely ignores that Ross Barkley has to willingly screw over his boyhood club for that scenario. Why would we be his dream choice in this scenario?

My take on Ross Barkley, however unpopular this will e, is that the club need to do their upmost to get him to sign a deal.

Whatever Koeman or Moshiri think on the issue (which I believe will be quite strong feelings after this episode) in all likelihood matters little, nor in truth do what fans think. What is central here is we have a 35 million pound asset that can leave for nothing in 12 months. In business, you are often expected to do things you would detest, deal with people you envy, hate or antagonise for the greater good. This is another such moment.

Ideally it would be a deal with no clauses. If not a deal with a clause at 30 million + with perhaps the carrot of a decent signing on fee would be possible, with the proviso he could leave in January or the summer.

It looks very unlikely currently. There have been one or two olive branches from Barkley though. 4 months is a long time in football. Spurs may struggle. Spurs may go off the player a little. Maybe Rooney can get into Barkley's head? 4 Months time elapsed from Schneiderlin not being for sale to being for sale. A lot can change in that time. We need to be working with Ross to get him to sign a deal.

Disagree entirely.

Olive branches is blatantly wrong mate. Explain where the olive branches were in his tweets today? I'm gobsmacked over the fawning of our fans over a player who has behaved worse than Barmby.

I don't know if you've tapped him up mate, I suspect probably as it goes on. It's not hard to understand though, given Oxlade Chamberlain also turned down Chelsea for a side that have been even less successful than you guys recently.

Chelsea go through managers like confetti and players get recycled. For a young player it will always be a major risk going there and most seem to have woken up to this.

Spurs on the other hand are a very well run club. You don't mind anywhere near the same number of players as Chelsea, improve players you have, have a strong English core and one of the best (if not the best) manager for developing younger talent in the league. It's easy to see why Barkley would turn down Chelsea for Spurs, and though it pains me to say it would Ox would turn down Chelsea for Liverpool as well.

There weren't any today mate, there were some last night.

It's a difficult situation and Ross has behaved very badly around this. I still think we should try to get a Contract signed though to protect the asset however hard that is.

We're all just speculating tbh. I still completely believe Ross rejected Chelsea because Everton left him without a choice, but we can't prove it one way or the other.

I suspect we will find out from Barkley himself what actually happened one day. Until then arguing over it is pointless.

To do this you need to give yourself a serious concussion, go on a bender and also stay up 48 hours to achieve his level.

I think we move on. Ross Barkley is certainly not good enough to be fawning over. He's certainly not bigger than the club. To be honest it would send a terrible message to other young players at the club if we allowed Barkley to simply return to the squad like nothing had happened.

Just my view this and no real information and facts to back it up.

Chelsea were prepared to pay more than yourselves so we tried to steamroll him to Chelsea.

People can call Ross greedy and selfish but Chelsea would pay higher wages than us and yourselves.

Ross and his agent have stood there ground and said no, even though the best contract was offered a few days back.
