Did Barkley ever have the medical or agree to join Chelsea? That is what I am wondering the most. Chelsea would use this as a PR opportunity "Oh we tried to sign Ross Barkley but the lad is thick as bricks and changed his mind during the medical." It makes sense for us to point the blame at Barkley so he looks like the tit and the club deflects attention from a very mediocre deadline day. It wouldn't surprise me if Barkley had never agreed to join Chelsea at all and the club were expecting him to say yes. If he truly walked out on a medical that he agreed to take on deadline day, he is an idiot.

You don't think that Chelsea would of denied it had that been the case? It makes them look shocking for a player of Barkleys standards to turn them down. They aren't some mid table side who have to make phantom bids on players they can't get to make themselves look good for the fans.
