Yes behind closed doors all that should be done not in press conferences. I've no issue Ross being told a few home truths behind closed doors but critising him in public is poor and it's now left with this situation. Barkley has not been supported by koeman in my opinion

Maybe it's what Koeman felt he needed to do. Ross has gone backwards as a player and obviously telling him him he's the greatest didn't work with Martinez did it. Imo Ross has been very well supported by Koeman who was trying to motivate Ross to be the player he can be if he works hard to improve. Unfortunately Ross doesn't want that, he wants to be babyed through the process and treated like a child who can't cope with criticism. Ross hasn't supported the club and his teammates with his attitude. Barkley was winding down his deal and Komena decided to say it like it is. The lad wants to stab us in the back and Koman called him on it.

Yes Dave, that's exactly why an "elite club" will buy the lad on deadline day after panicking.

for me let him go to UNT and take cash + Smalling to replace Williams - or any club where we can snatch a good addition as cash alone - we will get very little - I agree with you thats our best plan of action Ross will not sign for personal reasons in his life the rumours rumble! @davek that is the best way to get us out of this mess!

We defo cant say to clubs: "here he is, loads of experience, bags of talent, England international - that'll be £50M thanks". They smell blood in the water and the bargain of this summer. All thanks to the chuckleheads who allowed it to happen.

What we can do in terms of being constructive is to go for the player swap route. As you say, Smalling at United - fine with that. Certainly better than HMS Williams taking 15 minutes to turn 180 degrees.

That or, as said, the unwanted Kenedy at Chelsea plus £20M.

I really wish the club would get him off to Alderly Edge & get the players around him.


My only hunch is that maybe he's a complete ar5ehole/thickasfck/knowesitall....?? Maybe nobody can tell him anything. I have no idea, I've never met him.

No of course not but he will start and if he doesn't improve finish that career on the bench. And still no bids then ? If these top teams thought he was as important as you make out, surely he would be involved in a bidding war now ? Especially with him being English an inside the last year of his contract Dave. Just going to be some rich clubs squad player, when he could have been a blue icon.

But he wants a 'new challenge' and if that's the case there's nowt we can do about it other than sacking the Manager, ousting the whole board and basically elevating him to the position of the new Messiah?
