tend to agree and if he only lasts a season with any of those teams they'll make their money back easily in this market.
I disagree quite strongly, hes a very talented boy, he would get games at all the teams above us without doubt, not saying he would play every week, but he would see enough game time IMO.

Respectfully disagree. He wouldn't be a regular for any of those sides above us - even as a regular off the bench. His attacking quality doesn't provide enough to offset the other weakness in his game. Would he improve with better players around him? Possibly, but I don't think it's a given. I'm not so sure. Sometimes a guy just has a football IQ (or whatever sport they are playing) and sometimes they just don't. That's Ross' problem in my opinion. He just doesn't get it.
It's worth it for the big sides to take a punt on him b/c they don't care about the money, and because he has talent, they could end up big winners for little risk. And if he doesn't pan out, it really doesn't matter to them. Because at the very least he's homegrown.
for me let him go to UNT and take cash + Smalling to replace Williams - or any club where we can snatch a good addition as cash alone - we will get very little - I agree with you thats our best plan of action Ross will not sign for personal reasons in his life the rumours rumble! @davek that is the best way to get us out of this mess!
He has similar stats and similar impact on games as that utter little dwarf over the park who people cream themselves over.
Hes not WURLD KLASS, but hes a very, very good player who can perform at a very high level when in form.

Barkley has chosen to leave, his choice, knackers to him as far as I'm concerned. However, for me he's not good enough to hold down a place in the starting XI of any of the sides that are likely to lift the PL let alone the CL this season. He'd be an English quota bench warmer at the likes of United or Chelsea and you know it.

They'll be getting an absolute steal when one of that lot inevitably signs him. But if he was one year into a 4 year contract rather than one year left on a 4 year contract I doubt any of that lot would be even enquiring about him.

I may be stupid, but I'm not bitter. I've never rated Barkley as much as many of you have. I don't really think it's a big deal if he leaves. Which also happens to be the way of thinking of our manager.
