2017/18 Ross Barkley

I was more unhappy that our major shareholder went on national tv to try & throw him under a bus when clearly the club were trying to force him out to Chelsea.

Complete embarrassment that
It was, I agree. I was cringing when Moshiri appeared on SSN to say what he said. That shouldn't have happened. But Ross, in my view, was equally annoying because he clearly 'played the game' right to the final moments. Wants the best deal for himself so I get it, but not good for Everton and thats my concern.

Disagree with you mate, he's the one who would still look for the ball.
Not having a go at you personally but, I don't get the 'it's ok to give stick' to a player.
Going back to when we used to win stuff, Peter Reid (who had been integral to us winning things, was suddenly crap and was getting stick from the boo-boys, because we stopped winning and he was sold), didn't work out well for him or us.
If I was good enough to play for us, I can't imagine that anyone shouting abuse at me, would make me play better?
I just don't get it.
BUT YOUR JUST NOT GETTING IT MATE WEVE PAID ARE MONEY SO ITS ARE RIGHT TO SAY WHAT WE WANT NSNO !!!

Just couldn't help thinking when I was reading it that it was probably the nicest post that I can remember you making on him.:)

I have made a few positive posts about him... when he was playing well I stated that it looks like the penny has dropped and he's turned a corner...when he broke through and his first 3 seasons I had nothing but praise for him...only the last two seasons has my opinion of him changed

hopefully he can one man a few games for us, before quite rightly jibbing us off for spurs
He doesn't always play well but one things for certain, when he does have a good game invariably Everton do too. In fact, with the exception of Norwich at home in the final game of 2056/16, and Sunderland away last season when he was substituted at half time, I don't think I can remember a game we have dominated over the last 4 years where he wasn't at the heart of it. We don't always play well when he plays, but we never play well when he doesn't.

Bottom line is that we probably miss him as much as anything else this season. For years he's carried the mantle of our creativity and for me, it's no surprise that we have zero creativity this year without him in the team. He isn't the answer to all our problems by any means, but having him back in the team would be a big step forward.

Like almost everybody else, by the end of the transfer window I was getting a bit sick of all the uncertainty surrounding him, and I would have been quite happy had he just signed for whoever. But now, with Koeman gone, I'm hoping beyond hope that he signs a new contract and stays. Another reason why we mustn't replace Koeman with a manager like Allardyce.

Only joined in 2016 mate so probably missed those posts;).

There's alot of different opinion about whether Ross will/should stay or go. For me, I'd like him to stay until the end of the season now and get playing again. He might actually be able to help us and move the ball forward that bit quicker. Needs must, and beggars can't be choosers. But, I don't see him signing a new contract and I don't see him staying beyond the summer. So, putting that together and from a business viewpoint we'll probably sell him in January to get something for him.
I wasn't happy with him during the summer window (especially that last day). Always liked Ross, but once (or rather when) he leaves Everton he's dead to me though. Can't see it any other way.
Ross sure as heck isn’t going to help us move the ball quicker. Quite the opposite.

Ross should play regardless, but some of the critics aren’t wrong.

Real simple one for me. If he loves the club sign a contract. Koeman gone now so no excuses left ... doesn’t want to sign then go away .

Yes sign a long term contract for the employers that have been trying their hardest to get you out because you love the club so much. The same club whose supporters spent the past 6 months hating you.

Do it for the Love Ross

Some footballers are like Oumar Niasse, people give them abuse and their response is '[Poor language removed] you, I'm going to prove you wrong'. It's possible that others are like me. When they get slagged off, it just makes them think, "They're right, I am worthless, I can't be bothered anymore, etc." Dunno if that goes through Barkley's head though, we don't know him and we don't know how his brain works.

No one hated. Him mate. I think looking for a bit of consistency from him would of been more like it . The club offered him a new contract and he never signed it .. we are just back to where we were before Koeman put it up to him . Ball is in his court now !

Even last season when he had that 10 game spell where he actually started to look like he gave a (you know what) .. I gave him motm a few times and ais I thought he was turning it round .. but he went back to his normal self soon after

Not been the lads biggest fan, and I suspect he'd start crying mid-game with the pressure this current side is under.

However, he's certainly better than relegation fodder, so we simply have to tell him he's staying til the end of the season, contract or not.
