2017/18 Ross Barkley

Well I guess we will find out but I don't think so, hopefully I'm wrong. If it doesn't go well for him straight away the crowd will destroy him because of the contract situation. Ross can't even play when we boo bobby , can you imagine him at goodison when the crowd actually boo him.

He won't play for us again this season.

Mate my opinion of Barkley was a polar contrast tonwhatbis is currently... I don't "not like him" I want him to be amazing ... I just don't think he is and doubt he will be. The aggression in my posts all stems from literally hundreds of posts that I have read comparing him to lampard , Gerard, scholes etc. I disagreed and said they all had the mental strength to get to the top. This means I apparently hate barkley .. which wasn't true. The one thing I do hate about him tho is the fact he's scouse, an evertonain BIT is lazy. There is absolutely no excuse for him to either not work hard or pretend to press. He's one of our own and that gives him a bit of pressure but it also gives him a lot more people behind him souring him on. If he showed passion then I honestly think the blues that aren't impressed by him would get behind him, I know I would. But I cannot watch a supposed blue put half arsed performances in when the going gets tough I can't and won't stand for it. He will never be a David silva he hasn't got the brain... so that means he can't be absent when we don't have the ball.

Also your saying that siggy has been signed for massive money and can't influence a game. You then go on to ross being statistically one of the best mid in the prem for half a season. Well using stats ... siggy was the best wasn't he?
Think the lazy bit mate stemmed from Martinez who I think encouraged him to conserve his energy for when he had the ball. I've already agreed with you that we shouldn't afford him that luxury and I believe Koeman worked that out of him. Also think there is a bit of a psychological block with full blooded tackles due to his broken leg, which again I can understand to a degree. But I saw him throw a couple of meaty ones in on Wilshire so hopefully he's turned a bit of a corner there too. For me, his form dropped when all this contract thing became a public debate. Plus we lost Coleman to injury which gave him fewer options.

Think you must have me confused with another poster as regards Siggy. I haven't mentioned him. I was referring to the season before last which you had dismissed with your "10 games a season" comment. There was a piece on Sky Sports around Feb that season, when they were talking about attacking midfielders and who you would rather have in your team for the Euros that summer. They were going on various stats, goals, assists, chances created, passes made/completion rate, key passes made, dribbles completed. Don't think tackles won was one of the criteria's interestingly. The 4 players he was up against were Payet, Ozil, Silva and De Bruyne. Ross was 22 at the time and the rest, apart from De Bruyne who was 25, were all at least 5 years older and in their prime. Ross's stats were right up there. Siggy wasn't even in the frame mate.

I agreed with a lot of what you said in your previous post mate, but you have reverted to type with this one. He has not progressed as well as we all hoped he would from the precocious talent he was as a 17 yo, and he certainly doesn't deliver enough attacking wise that we can give him a completely free reign on his defensive duties. He will never become that player sadly as his decision making is just not good enough. But we still have a very good player on our books, especially if he can find a bit more consistency.

You clearly don't like him mate, which is your prerogative, and any praise conceded is so obviously done begrudgingly. The spell of a dozen or so games at the beginning of the year was perhaps his most consistent and all round form shown in a blue shirt. But there were other games earlier in the season when he played well too. And the previous season he was up amongst the top 5 attacking mids in the Premier up until Feb, when the whole team basically downed tools. Last season, he won more MOMs on the GOT poll than any other player, including Rom, and was in the top 3 in more than 80% of the games he played in. But that's not consistent enough for you.

Apart from Sunderland away, when he was substituted at half time, I can't recall a game over the last two and a half seasons where we have played well without him being in the team. Not one!!!. Bottom line is that when Ross plays well, Everton tend to win football matches.

I hate the stand off that is going on at the moment, and my own opinion of the player has diminished as a result. But let's not kid ourselves that we are not a better side with him on the pitch, or that we haven't missed him this season .

By the way, "blob on" basically means the guy agrees with you.:)
Good post mate ... the stand off part is what has caused a lot of people's anger and that now could be blamed on Koeman . Ball in his court now to sign a new contract and commit ...

Mate he had about 10 games where he played "better" and I admitted as much and said he was my MOTM a few times. Trouble is, he went back to playing badly afterward and before that decent run of games... his last decent run was the previous January.. so that's 10 decent games in a year. He is one of the most talented players we have had come through our youth team, he has qualities that only a handfull of players in Europe have.. like his ability to shoot long range with both feet, his ability to dibble at pace some players have that but he also has the physical attributes that many have but not with the other abilities inhace mentioned. His potential is as good as it gets and as a 17 year old he looked like he was going to the very top. Unfortunatley he lacks what 90% of top flight footballers need to have and that is the ablity to make decisions and take on instructions to play in a system. He is not good enough not to work hard and he isn't good enough to build a top 6 team around. His lack of effort without the ball os not outweighed by his ability on it ...

Great post, absolutely spot on.

The only issue I'd take with it is the final sentence. I don't think he ever fails to work hard. Similar to Lukaku, it's just not his game to sprint around like Andy Johnson and criticism of that side of his game should take that into account.

I did have you confused with someone else mate sorry. Was a reply I got that was the post before yours .. sorry about that

I'm not talking about chasing lost causes like Johnson or bent. I'm talking when he pretends to press, when his man has the ball. He jogs around and just stands in front of the player and never actually tries to get it. If I have worked that out you bet the player with the ball has.

Agreed... but having a player basically show no effort and then refuse to sign a contract and then refuse a move basically showing two fingers to the club he apparently loves ...if he doesn't play well it's going to happen isn't it ?
this is essentially a lie, your campaign against a local lad is actually getting quite weird
