I have calmed a little from what seems like a 48 hour Vendetta against Fat Sam to at least be able to think of him without swearing.

This is a big test of Allardyce. He says he can deal with big players, with precocious talent and get them into a side. He did this with Bolton. He needs to do it with Ross. He will win a lot of fans round if he can sit down with Ross and make him feel pivotal. The thought of Rooney, Davies and Barkley in the same team would be fantastic for all.

I can't actually believe I am discussing ways Allardyce can endear himself, and I still don't like him, but if he has any sense he'd sort this situation and find a way to get the best out of this kid.

But he's well gone is Ross.

He's more than likely ear-marked him and a couple of others as the transfer spending money for January, unfortunately.

Hope I'm wrong. The lad is class.

We'd be stupid to sell. 3 days ago I'd have thrown out the suggestion. We can't sign anyone of his ability in January, so why sell at a knockdown price. The last 2 days have shown me to frankly not rule anything out for absolute short sighted stupidity though.

I think it'll be the last opportunity we get to make some cash on him if he doesn't sign, so it looks odds on. :rolleyes:
