Because it's a very frequent thing at virtually every academy system in the country. And it's common knowledge as well, not some sort of conspiracy.

Please don't tell @Eggs he's talking "total BS" when he knows far more about the academy system, and football in general, than 99% of people on here.
I'll post what I like and that's not what I said keyboard warrior so do one

I'm not buying this injury stuff anymore. Been out since mid August with a hamstring. 17 weeks or so.

Nah....

He's injured.

He had an operation on his hamstring injury, which is why the recovery is longer.

I've had a hamstring injury when I was about 18, it kept me out for six months. My dad tore his hamstring and hasn't been able to run since. It's one of the worst injuries you can get.

Factor in he had no extensive pre-season training then the most he can probably do even now is a bit of light training and low impact stuff (i.e. like he was cycling 6 weeks ago).

He may well leave in January, but he's definitely not fit.

I'd understand scouts getting a bonus should a local lad make it to the first team etc, but a slice of their asset value in 2017? Nah, not having it.

He could have gone in the summer despite the injury anyway, but he chose not to.

He's an utter helmet, a thick dope who's been lead by the nose by a greedy agent. I never want to see the thick prat ever wearing the shirt again, good riddance.

I hope we do. He's an excellent player who we've missed.

Still think he will go in Jan mate?

..I reckon that unless the club find themselves in the mire, they will be happy for him to go. I also think clubs will want him. That means a move will be dependant on two things: a club meeting our evaluation and Barkley not wanting to run down the rest of his contract.

Personally, i’ve thought for a long time that he had no intention of signing a new deal. It would surprise me if he did.

Yeah tend to agree mate, sad like, but then again he may end up damaged goods the rest of his career after this hammy injury anyway ...

I tore mine too playing rugby when I was 17. It still hurts a bit now tbf.

But I was back inside about 8 weeks and had no proper physio or whatever on it.

I do still want him to stay btw but I think it's extremely unlikely so not gonna moan if he's sold.

If, as @Eggs suggested, there's murmurings of it being treated poorly, that could be the cause of it.

My left one went and while it didn't snap (like my dad's did, and conversely like Michael Owen's, for example), it was a really bad tear. It's still bad now - like yours. Really tight, have to get a sports massage pretty much every two/three weeks if I've been doing a lot of running/playing footy.

Obviously, Ross is a professional and in much better shape, but one of his biggest assets is that turn of pace. He's already slowed down a bit in the last few years, but if they're not very careful he may lose that all together.
