He wasn't long term injured when he pulled out of the transfer in the summer!!
Sick repeating this

Article on 3rd September stating he was on crutches due to operation on hamstring in the summer.

“Understandably, he also wants to walk out of Goodison instead of with the aid of crutches he needs at the moment, after a torn hamstring forced him into a second operation of the summer.”

It should have been, it should have been done when we sacked Martinez.

But, then again negotiations did start this time last year, when he'd got 18 months left - which is the normal time to start talks.

I think we have to accept that he didn't want to sign the deal. That's it.

We offered a massive wedge in our last offer. Massive. Would have made him top earner by far. He didn't want it.
...at which point we'd hired a manager who's main aim seemed to be to alienate Barkley.

Your post makes no sense. If Chelsea told him in the summer to wait until January how exactly have we lost out on money given no other club bid for him ? By your own logic we’ve lost no money as they never intended to buy him for £35m in first place.

Maybe I wasn't clear, as that isn't what I meant. They bid £35m and we accepted it, so they were clearly prepared to pay it. However, once they understood the extent of his injury, they told him to wait until Jan because there was no point in paying him to sit around (which I don't blame them for). However, his agent reportedly said that he had changed his mind, which as we can see now clearly wasn't the case at all, he was always going to sign for Chelsea.

I moved on from Barkley a while ago. 15m is low but better than losing him for nowt. Onwards.

If I am honest with you, I would have been happy enough letting him rot until May and just losing him for nowt.

That way he would be certain to miss the World Cup.

Now, if he gets a couple of starts for Chelsea in the closing months of the season he will be nailed on for a seat on the plane.

And for me at any rate, it will be quite sickening to see him playing in Russia.
