2017/18 Ross Barkley

Another casualty of the Koeman era. The gift that just keeps on giving.

The feller was a blight that hit the club.

You think Barkleys attitude and the way he's stuffed this club is purely down to his treatment from koeman? Sounds like it's been festering for longer.

Sounds like Ross isn't the smartest.

Maybe I wasn't clear, as that isn't what I meant. They bid £35m and we accepted it, so they were clearly prepared to pay it. However, once they understood the extent of his injury, they told him to wait until Jan because there was no point in paying him to sit around (which I don't blame them for). However, his agent reportedly said that he had changed his mind, which as we can see now clearly wasn't the case at all, he was always going to sign for Chelsea.

Right but as you say they were never going to pay £35m once they realised he was crippled so we haven’t actually lost any money as there was no club willing to pay that kind of money.

If anyone cost us money it’s that sacked physio who supposedly over massaged him during pre reason resulting in the injury !

If I am honest with you, I would have been happy enough letting him rot until May and just losing him for nowt.

That way he would be certain to miss the World Cup.

Now, if he gets a couple of starts for Chelsea in the closing months of the season he will be nailed on for a seat on the plane.

And for me at any rate, it will be quite sickening to see him playing in Russia.

I would be more worried that we’re selling to buy than if Barkley plays for England

as far as Barkley was concerned
...as far as many people were concerned at the time.

The feller never relented for a season. Dragging Barkley's name up time and time again.

Can anyone say that if we'd have had a manager not intent on targeting him but honing and praising his talent, and an owner who kept out of the way and tried not to tell lies about that player in public, we'd arrive at a moment like this when?

I hear ya but to me after a player has gone I couldn't give a rat's what they do. As for England, I'm English so all rivalries & hate go out the window & I cheer on my country & want what's best for it.

It's a weird one. He might flourish with better players surrounding him, but he seriously needs to work on his decision making.

I think Koeman hanging him out to dry was the straw that broke the camel's back. I do think he is quite week mentally, but a good manager should've observed that and managed him accordingly.

Hi Roman it’s Ross I’m injured until January will you pay me £150k a week for 16 weeks & give Everton £35million when you can have me for £20 million in January.

Okay Ross I’m a billionaire I got this way by giving £22.5 million away regularly for no reason.

Are people really that stupid that they believe Chelsea were going to give us £35 million & pay him £150k a week for 16 weeks whilst being injured.

Wake up

Could you imagine the frothing at the mouth if we bought a player for top dollar who had a long term injury mate (probably from the same lads who are whinging Chelsea have had us off.)
