The Croatia team I watched the other day appeared very limited; I'd expect a very even game between them and England. But that head to head is by no means assured. Sweden and Russia are equally as likely to meet imo.

For the past 8 years or so I couldn't really be bothered with the national team, probably because it was filled with players who were picked on who they played for rather than on merit.

However I have changed my mind with this bunch, and also regarding Southgate who I wasn't a big fan of either, and hope they do well.

It's more of a general apathy towards england with blues, the reds especially online will seize any to chance to try and 'out-scouse' each other

self-loathing and deciding to ignore patriotism aren't really the same thing mate, and it's not a great argument, you are essentially saying 'agree with my view point or you clearly have mental issues'

Croatia are massively dangerous. By far better than England, so it's about who can rise to the occasion. Fully expecting us to comfortably beat Sweden by the way. I think Croatia will grind out a result against the hosts.

First time I've sat down and watched England for the full game - some real quality there but the midfield is a state. Lingard, Henderson, Alli, and Young? Surely you are joking Mr Southgate. Ross really did pick a bad time to stop being a footballer.
Actually can't argue with Henderson or Young turning in pedestrian performances because what can you expect - it's not their level. Alli is an aggravating player to watch, though - don't know if it's the formation or if he really is just a flat-track bully in the prem, but he's offering nothing that I've seen.

Going to be a hard slog if last night's game is anything to go by. They'll be such little space for us to operate in and I doubt they'll be stupid enough to gift us a penalty in the fashion other teams have.

England are pretty crap though aren't they. 7 goals from 9 have been from set pieces and one of the other 2 was a complete fluke. They played 2 appalling teams followed by Belgium reserves and then Columbia missing their best player nearly put them out. Sweden should do the business and then the media love-in will stop and we can all get on with looking forward to the new season.
