England are pretty crap though aren't they. 7 goals from 9 have been from set pieces and one of the other 2 was a complete fluke. They played 2 appalling teams followed by Belgium reserves and then Columbia missing their best player nearly put them out. Sweden should do the business and then the media love-in will stop and we can all get on with looking forward to the new season.
where we are in the this competition suggests otherwise, even without James Columbia were a very capable outfit players from first team from Barcelona Tottenham etc. Went with a game plan and thus far it's worked, it's not pretty, however, it's a result business. Just be interesting how we perform against Sweden.

I'm getting crucified by my mates for saying something very similar. I just can't buy into it. They call me unpatriotic because I'm not a flag waving historical idiot for scraping past a poor Columbia team.

If that was Uruguay/Belgium/Brazil/France or arguably even Croatia yesterday instead of Colombia, we'd have been absolutely smashed all over the place. Thank God their two attacking players had stinkers, and their best player was sitting in the stands.

Your post would have included Germany, Spain, Portugal, and Argentina a few weeks back, lets be honest. Not our fault the draws ended up like they did, but coming from a starting point, going right back to Southgate getting the job, of Arsed about England, I am enjoying seeing the team actually looking prepared, actually trying to play some decent stuff, not freezing up in terror, and a total lack of the crap that has hung around England for years and years.

self-loathing and deciding to ignore patriotism aren't really the same thing mate, and it's not a great argument, you are essentially saying 'agree with my view point or you clearly have mental issues'

It’s not ‘ignoring patriotism’ though. It’s actively wanting England to get beat, or even humiliated no matter the opposition or circumstances. That is just sad.
