To all the anti-England brigade, let us enjoy our ride. We know we wont win it, but we are enjoying the moment- why shouldnt we? Two years ago Wales were doing the same and majority of Englands fans backed and supported them without the crap being hurled at them.
I'd just like to say as a Scotsman, I genuinely think England can make it to the final and depending on who you play it could be a glorious tournament for you. I also think that the current English squad will maybe come up short this tournament, but will be very well placed for Euro '20. Gareth Southgate has come across as a very grounded and eloquent manager and perhaps his own shortcomings in a pen shootout has helped with this. Fortunately for me, I will be in Italy for the final and will miss the hysteria in the media if England do actually win...Phew! :p

Well done you. You've completely missed the point though which is that they have not cut the opposition open.
It doesn’t matter. They are in the QF with a good chance of getting to the SF. Remember Greece boring their way to Euro 2004. Wasn’t pretty but they have done something that a lot of other countries haven’t.
BTW, some of the older posters on here will be very aware that Eusebio scored 9 goals at the 1966 finals. Some, including myself, have probably forgotten that 4 of those goals were penalties.

Be nice if we do. The media do spoil it though.

Due to the penetration of the old English first division and more latterly, the PL, the majority of footballing 'aware' NZers support England. That's absolutely unique to that particular sporting code. Unfortunately, the vast majority are also Liverpool supporters. On our Radio Sports' discussions around the penalty shootout we had two of the three discussion panel focus on how unlucky Henderson's attempt was not to go in...that he'd done everything spot on and only a miraculous save prevented it hitting the onion sack. Pickford's contribution?....wasn't mentioned.

This

I've always backed the other home nations + Ireland in major tournaments

Seems a bit sad that they can't do the same for England
