He was dropped right in it early with that horrible pass from Trippier where he ended up getting booked. I agree that first 20 he was not really at it, but showed great strength of character to improve as the game went on. He’s had nothing outside him at LB all tournament. Considering he was all the pundits choice for the weakest link he has done ok. Today was his poorest performance imo but still ok overall.

The 2010 team was very talented. Rooney was probably the 3rd best player in the world or maybe fifth.

They went out in 2010 because Goal Line technology wasn't a thing and they ran into a Germany side that was extremely good. that 2014 group was a group of death. If Gareth Southgate got given a group that hard he would be sent home as well. We'll done to Southgate on getting easier draws I suppose?

There was no need to even play Germany in the R16. Should’ve won our group and we’d have avoided them
