Full credit to Greece but France, the Czech Republic, and Portugal proved themselves far too flawed to be worthy of a tournament title. The Greeks? They simply went and won it. Now, if they'd been playing properly good sides, that would not have happened. But those three were so flawed they were all eliminated by a backs-to-the-wall outfit who gave you nothing. Rehhagel was smart. That brain was the difference between that Greek team and those Slovaks today, who were technically poor and intellectually poorer.
