IMO if Coleman hadn't been recovering from an op at the beginning of the season Patterson would have been left on the bench were he belonged.

This (RB) is a position we'll need to address ASAP.

Depends if you mean, not at all premier league standard or not top-half premier league standard....not much there to be get excited about, but some are better than others.
 
Who gives a toss what the Irishman says? I would even prefer Souness over him. Great player mind, but a crap shortlived manager.

I think he'll turn out to be a pretty good player. But bloody hell, a year ago today Newcastle signed Trippier. I remember getting told that Patterson was twice the player Trippier was and Newcastle were just 'making the same mistakes Everton did'. Funny old game.

And to stress, I'm not saying Everton were in a position to go and give Trippier money - even though he took a cut from Atletico - or a big contract at 31. But he's a bloody excellent player who has helped transform them and set standards. We signed two young, raw and below-average (at the moment) FBs for £30million.

I actually like him and think he will be a good full back for us, not as good as say Coleman or Baines but he’s still a young lad getting used to the premier league and needs to put the injuries behind him, he was one of our better players before he got injured for Scotland.

There is no "again".

He has a couple of decent months and people want to give him improved terms after four years of abject mediocrity. No wonder we are breaking FFP and staring relegation in the face.
