Royston Drenthe

After watching that video which had far more lowlights than highlights, I stand unconvinced that he'll add anything.

He has lightening pace. Can't wait to see whether he can get in behind opponents defences and take people on on the left wing.

If Drenthe is effectively a foreign players in the last year of their contract,
at what point can we negotiate with him for a long term contract? Perhaps we can already? Not sure.

I am excited by his trickery and pace but I wish he was a right winger. We're just going to make ourselves even more reliant on the left flank. We need a bit of diversity.

That said, Moyes loves a player who can cut in from the opposite flank. Would he play him at RM?

If you've got Baines and Coleman, its good to have a player ahead of them who cuts inside.

Coleman can cut in from the right. Gueye also? Didn't he play on the right once in pre-season?

Can't see that to be honest, as I said he's not really that type of player.

Aye. This is why I want Coleman at RB. He's good overlapping and if you can get someone who likes to cut in to play in front, it works great. See: Pienaar + Baines.

However Drenthe is left footed. I think he'll be more inclined to hug the line on the left. Food for thought anyway.

Gueye was woeful at RM. Coleman can cut in but his left foot isn't great and once he does cut in he looks like a headless chicken.

I don't know much about him mate. I'm eager to be enlightened though.

I haven't seen loads of him either, but when I have seen him it's always been marauding up and down the left hand side. The way he strikes the ball is more of a POW than a nice little finesse curler, which generally suits playing on the orthodox flank. At the same time though, I don't think he'll have any problems combining with Baines, there's nothing wrong with having two lefties together and if needs must, he'd be perfectly capable anywhere as he's a good footballer.

Sounds good mate. It could be some left flank.

I'm just worried about our right one.

Well, once he is back from his injuries, I hope Coleman is good enough for you in the mean time? Anichebe or Barkley would probably get there fair share in that position, who knows for some reason Billy gets to play there from time to time as well.

Coleman is a mediocre right midfielder. Now if we put him at RB, then I'd be a lot happier. He's so much better on the overlap.

Barkley and Coleman could be a deadly combo, but it wouldn't be defensive enough for Moyes so I don't think he'll go for it.

Oh and Anichebe will be too busy leading the line for us to play RM.
