Royston Drenthe

Personally, not going to judge an obviously attack-minded payer on his defensive credentials.

Yeah sure, its great when you can get an attacking player that's decent in his own half as well, but if he's not I'm not gonna cry about it. I'm more concerned with the amount of times the ball is needlessly given away, for me that is Roy's biggest weakness at the moment, and probably what would stop Moyes from signing him up on a permanent deal as well.

Don't get me wrong, I rate the lad, but I do want to see a bit more consistency in his dribbling & pass completion rates. If he can get that sorted, he'd be properly boss.

I agree but you've got to consider that:

a.) He is desperate to impress. Unlike most in our team he'll be dropped after a single bad performance, never mind 13 months of bad performances.

b.) When you're the kind of player who takes on people you're always more likely to lose the ball.

Say whatever you want.

That game was tailor made for Drenthe to come on and wreak havoc.

Moyes brought on Neville.

That one is on Moyes (and Round for not getting in his manager's ear and telling him not to put in Neville, but rather Drenthe.)

I would really like to see a lot more of Drenthe, exactly the type of player that can make a difference we need.

I really wish we had an attacking minded number two to get help get the emphasis off defence. Someone like Big Dunc - Moyes would argue too much with him!! Even someone like Alan Shearer who seems keen to get into management but is lacking experience could do with a season or two under Moyes wing to help him get a good footing before going it alone.

Just seen drenthe at the gulf petrol station in woolton in his black ferrari 458 (looked great), he looked cool as ****, shame he wasnt as cool as balotelli and payed for everyones petrol

This is damn good point mate - the nerves and pressure this is going to generate among the players on the fringes of the first 11 have got to have an impact. Not to mention the fury of watching Nev getting warmed up AGAIN

I didn't mean to put words in your mouth but I just think the assertion that they're wide players and that's why they're not playing centrally is nonsense. Whether it is your own believe or just Moyes'.

Landon has played centrally for us for brief spells and Pienaar has played a lot of games centrally for us. Moyes is willing to do it, he just elected to push Fellaini up as he loves a target man.

Struggling to think of more than 2 here..

Well I didn't jot them all down in a little diary, but he definitely played a fair few games for us centrally. He also plays for South Africa centrally, so all I was saying (as I clarified already) is that these players are capable of playing centrally and it's not even like they'd be playing out of position. Whether or not you were saying that you don't believe that or that Moyes doesn't believe that I really don't care, the fact is that them going central instead of Fellaini going up top is a very viable option.
