Rugby League at BMD

I suppose it shows how insular some sections of our support is by not wanting RL played at Bramley Moore because it's seen as 'wool' sport and not wanting wools in the ground.

There's plenty of people from 'wool' towns like St Helens, Warrington, Wigan, Widnes etc who are proud Blues and have helped prop this club up for years.

The club making much needed money from events outside first team Everton games is most welcome for me considering our perilous financial position in recent seasons.

As for the pitch, well it's not the 70s and 80s anymore. It will be pristine by the time we play again.

IMO we have to establish our own identity down at the docks first and foremost. We dont want to be known for being the home of EFC and rugby league. Money cant be allowed to compromise identity.

Anyway, I'm sure it's a one off.
But again, a couple of games year (because that's the max we're talking about here) is hardly enough to make the stadium be known for the thing. Rugby League is a minority sport Dave, if people who love it (myself being one) come to view our new stadium as one of the homes of that game then it can only be a good thing. Nobody outside of the Rugby League bubble will ever associate it with the sport because they don't care.

Im not sure Australia will be playing their home games at BMD mate. The ashes test was last played in England in 2003. I reckon we'd be able to stave off people calling it a rugby league ground with that level of regularity.

Such small time thinking from some of our fans in here. Worrying about the state of the pitch and the idea that our ground could possibly be associated with stuff other then us. There's literally no point in us moving grounds if we don't take opportunities like this and embrace them.
Thats exactly right. If your concern is that Evertons new stadium is not going to be known as Evertons new stadium because it hosted a rugby league game, then your opinion of Everton must be very, very low.

More chance of the Pope hosting mass at Ibrox

They’ve been talking about taking the hurling abroad - well, America - so embracing the 33rd county wouldn’t totally out the question (if its feasible)

Would be a sizeable injection for the GAA to bring anything over here. Proves they could charge…

They play exhibition games in America. New York host a championship game every 2nd year. There is no hope in the world that the all Ireland final will be played elsewhere. 82000 people and what it brings to the economy of Dublin that weekend.

Ohh Dave don't start another meaningless crusade, other sporting events, concerts, sponsorships, we have to make this stadium pay for us, it's the age we live in.

It's England though isn't it?

I think you’re confusing banter with actual sentiment. Unless some blert chains themselves to a post with a ‘just stop rugby’ shirt on.
