Bonking around a marathon course would not be allowed here.
Everybody will do it slightly differently. When I’m building back up I initially run/ walk/ run , then increase the distance to either 6 miles maybe 8 miles of run / walk, then run that distance without stopping. Then depending on my overall target . If it’s shorter initially like a 10 km I’ll increase the speed for that distance eg looking for a fast 8 miles. If it’s longer like 1/2 m I’ll increase the run/ walk to 10 miles , then run that distance , then run that distance faster , then I’ll look to run 12 miles. If I’m now fit enough I’ll run the 12 mile, if not I’ll run/walk 12 mile then run the 12 mile, then 12 mile faster. It’s good to have a plan of how you’re going to increase distance and speed.Last question sorry (feel like a bellend asking how to run )
To build myself up, is it better to try and go the distance with out stopping, and then improve the time?
Peterborough half. I'll be there watching. Shame, as it's pb potential and weather looks favourable. It's not quite the scenic course to enjoy, but plenty of support.
Good luck!! What shirt you wearing, I'll keep an eye out

I usually try to add 10-30% to each run, especially if I'm starting from scratch (often I end up not running for long periods, so have to start over). Aim for a mile at first, then up it etc.Last question sorry (feel like a bellend asking how to run )

Looks very moody. Plenty of inclines and scrambling?View attachment 231453View attachment 231454
Last race of the year, setting off from the banks of Ullswater - Lakeland Trails Helvellyn 15K.
A really big field, with 400 setting off together, which meant bottlenecks all over the first half of the course, plus the weather threw a bit of everything at us.
Great day though and probably my best time for of the year.

Still waiting for their 2024 races to open.
Great stuff, didn't spot you....was standing around the 5 mile mark. Good conditions for it!Great Eastern went well, a bit better than I expected seeing as I'm probably not 100% with a bit of a cough - did it in 1hr38
Manchester half marathon done! Managed to do it in 1h46 which considering I'd initially put down 2h - 2h15 for my starting wave I'm over the moon with.
