Watch the plaudits come in from clubs/fans/media outlets who have shown none of the same vociferousness towards other owners, sponsors and stakeholders.

Outcry, and deservedly so, over dodgy Russian money but rolling out the red carpet for Saudi money. It's disgusting.

I do recognise this thread maybe isn't the place to bring up "other" issues but the FA and British football in general need to have a long hard look at themselves and the money they'll happily trade for morality.

Good on the club for at least appearing to recognise this, even if we were all happy to have the money rolling in only a few weeks ago.

The Echo believe the EU sanctions wont effect Usmanov / USM as he only owns 49% of USM in which 50% is required to be sanctioned.

Metallivoist have confirmed its business as usual in Europe which is positive news for us.
So maybe we could get Metalloinvest to sponsor us snd make up the shortfall? Or is that too simplistic?

How many Russian sponsors?

Most people who are rich enough to own a football club will not have got their money 100% legitimately, including British or Americans

It's true that all of the owners are involved in dodgy business, not just Everton. It's a big problem with the league, and with society, sure.
But when the spotlight shines on Everton because of Usmanov's direct contribution to war - I'm glad the club has taken the correct moral decision.
I hope they take the opportunity to lead by example and strongly point that spotlight on the other beneficiaries of dirty money.

Every single one of us is, albeit indirectly mostly, for almost every product we buy and every service we use

I think the main point should be that because people value success in what is essentially a hobby/source of entertainment more than they value human lives in far away countries, decent people have been priced out.

Your point opens up a whole can of worms wherein we could explore the nature of capitalism and how exploitation of the working class (where the traditional fans came from) allowed a few people to become wealthy enough to buy the clubs we support. It's maddening.

Good move to sever ties but honestly I find it pretty poor from the club not to state the blame of the 'appalling events in Ukraine'.

I’m giving you one hour to come and own up that you celebrated Everton’s wealth heartily before this whole debacle. You knew what you were getting into bed with, but you looked the other way for reflected glory.

Only now you see the opportunity for an ivory tower do you come out and condemn.

You’re part of the problem and why GOT has turned into bumsnet. Me and a few other brave associates have been fighting to resist this. Join us.

Partisan Walton.

I'll readily admit I enjoyed the brief taste of hope when it was dangled in front of us like the shitty withered carrot it eventually turned out to be.
And quite rightly I am now suffering as we flirt with relegation after a series of horrendous ownership-led problems.

57 minutes lads. Don’t be moralising on here now if you backed Uncle Uzzy signing you those big players you wanted. Who all turned out absolute bums.

Take the amnesty.

If all posters were like you then grandoldteam.com would be the place it used to be again.

Well in comrade.
