You really believe Everton "suspending" USM from sponsering the club is going to have any effect on Putin/Ukraine? lol

Like me saying I'll start walking to Manchester rather than driving to stop global warming whilst China and India pump billions of CO2 emissions into the atmosphere every day.

See, the difference here is that you want Everton success at any cost.

You look at all the other owners and other clubs and say: what about this one, how about this one, why can they have this and we can't?

The thing is though, Everton have managed to grow keep getting fans despite a lack of success for 25+ years because there is an idea (or myth) that the club is somewhat different to the others. That there is some kind of better perspective held by this particular fan base that keeps the club important and relevant despite the extreme lack of success. That Everton, as a club, expect to do things in the right way.

Now obviously this is absolutely made up nonsense, and we would - as a fanbase - be very different if we'd managed to achieve continued success or been managed half-competently by Kenwright and co. But that's hypothetical, instead we're faced with a decision as a general fanbase as to how we want Everton to exist and operate in a corrupt football ecosystem. Based on today's decision by Everton, it would appear there is still some people in the club looking to choose the moral decision over the one that might lead to faster success.

Anyone who says they still support Everton in 2022 because they love the feeling of success is lying. And if you only support Everton because you're banking on future success, that's silly also. To be happy with success bought with Moshiri money is to want to be a Chelsea or City or Newcastle with a different crest.

Whatever happens between Ukraine/Putin wont be determined one way or another by EFC and its links to USM.

For me we are damaging ourselves in some virtue signalling bravado. If you listen to the arl da's we never recovered from the European ban, will we be saying the same in 10-15 years down the line RE this?

If you want to follow a sport with morals go follow your local rounders team or sunday league because modern football at the top is awash with blood money and corruption.

No, I want us to do the best we can given the handicap in place by maintaining a basic slither of principles.
If the most lucrative sponsors we can get are betting companies, crypto companies, or Russian holding companies contributing finances to wars - I'll go with whatever the next one on the list is.

I think we all want the club to do well. But in a grim world, principles must count for more than immediate success.

Moshiri is a also chairman of USM. This is worrying.

But put into perspective by what is happening in Ukraine.

I would love Usmanov to be proved to be one of the good guys. But in the meantime, we stand with Ukraine, and ride our little storm

We have suspended ties with Russian companies but what does that mean really? What Russia is doing isn’t going away, are we going to re-establish the deals once they take over the Ukraine or withdraw? This just doesn’t seem possible to me.

Our owner due to his ties to Usmanov should also be making a statement. The clubs statement does not necessarily reflect his. In my opinion he needs to sell us, but that probably is the last thing we need right now with the stadium under construction.

What a mess, but let’s not put any of this before the people of Ukraine.

Yes mate, I exist in the world. I participate in society.

But we as a fanbase and as a club are in a position where we can choose what to stand for - and we can demand of our custodians, whoever they might be at any given time, that we will only accept success in the absence of blood money. It's not too high a bar actually - Cazoo and Angry Birds will do.

And just to nip it in the bud - NSNO only appeared in the 1970s, after decades of sustained success. Our biggest success drought in the history of the club has coincided with NSNO.

Honestly though, if you just want success, you can get it elsewhere. I'm not telling you to [Poor language removed] off here, I'm just saying that it's an actual possibility you may have not considered until now.
