We have suspended ties with Russian companies but what does that mean really? What Russia is doing isn’t going away, are we going to re-establish the deals once they take over the Ukraine or withdraw? This just doesn’t seem possible to me.

Our owner due to his ties to Usmanov should also be making a statement. The clubs statement does not necessarily reflect his. In my opinion he needs to sell us, but that probably is the last thing we need right now with the stadium under construction.

What a mess, but let’s not put any of this before the people of Ukraine.

Yeah, the fact that it's suspended really does leave more questions than answers.
Absolutely no chance we hear from Moshiri though.

Yes mate, I exist in the world. I participate in society.

But we as a fanbase and as a club are in a position where we can choose what to stand for - and we can demand of our custodians, whoever they might be at any given time, that we will only accept success in the absence of blood money. It's not too high a bar actually - Cazoo and Angry Birds will do.

And just to nip it in the bud - NSNO only appeared in the 1970s, after decades of sustained success. Our biggest success drought in the history of the club has coincided with NSNO.

Honestly though, if you just want success, you can get it elsewhere. I'm not telling you to [Poor language removed] off here, I'm just saying that it's an actual possibility you may have not considered until now.

Like take Qatari blood money from BEIN sports?

Angry Birds has links to Usmanov also.

Staying up and being able to pay our bills in the short term is the best we can hope for right now...the club have done the right thing.

Yes yes you've made it clear, everything is bad.

Unlike the broadcasting deal which is negotiated by the league, USM and co were organised directly by the club.

For now that's where I'll comfortably draw the line. We don't need to stumble down a Ben Shapiro debaters slide into truly dumb arguments.

It really begs the question on where peoples morals lie though. It’s all very well politicians and high profile people pushing clubs to sever ties to the Russians, but why has it been ok for those from countries that are committing horrific human rights violations to own sports clubs and play a part in western society? It’s pretty disgusting really and brings into question do these people really care or are they just going with the flow and using a war to heighten their own image?

Look at LeBron James and his refusal to condemn China. He put his wallet before the lives of people. I’m just using him as an example because he is one of the most high profile sports stars in the world.

It all lies with us the fans though really, if we continue to buy goods, pay for subscriptions and go to games we are justifying it all. Is anybody going to sacrifice all that? Not sure I could to be honest.

So you willingly want your team to lose and fail?

Ace fan you mate.

And yes I would happily rather us be Chelsea than West Brom cheers.
There is literally an invasion going on right this second and peoples homes are being bombed to dust, kids being murdered in the name of one lunatic.

Forgive me for thinking the club I support is correct to distance themselves from any links to this regime at this moment in time.

Bellend.

Exactly.

Alisher Usmanov isn't invading Ukraine. Neither is he shelling Ukrainian cities.

I support Everton - a football club.

Keep politics out of it cheers.

You really believe Everton "suspending" USM from sponsering the club is going to have any effect on Putin/Ukraine? lol

Like me saying I'll start walking to Manchester rather than driving to stop global warming whilst China and India pump billions of CO2 emissions into the atmosphere every day.

Only. Hurting. Ourselves.
Yet maybe if all the Oligarchs take Putin aside and mention invading Ukraine is bad for business....

I think we will get relegated anyway, but why not just face the facts that we are just a league 1 side in the Premier League? Lets go down there, be sponsored by Everton in the Community and we can publish press releases all day about how good we are? Our neighbours, sponsored by a money laundering organisation. Newcastle are about to spend 500million in blood money and city are run by a state that uses slave labour. Everton are about to run foul of FFP because we are owned by a guy who knows a guy who knows a guy who is bad. As terrible as it is you can’t be virtuous and and successful in the premier league these days, so if we want to be the good guys it’s best that we just bow out now

But he refuses to say it’s wrong. All he and Abramovich need to do is say it’s wrong. People say they are scared for their lives, but look at those Russians protesting.

The last oligarch to have a pop at Putin ended up being found dead in a bathtub.

Easy for me and you to say "argh lad go ed lad call Vlad a bell" a lot more difficult when said person / their loved ones face being assassinated by some KGB operative.
