I think that Obama will be crapping his pants. I don't believe that his military chiefs will. Russia will be rightly upset, but will now have to appreciate it's not the only power around and will have to 'co-operate' in this war zone. Personally I deplore the death of one or two airmen in making a point, but it's nothing more than Putin would have done if roles were reversed. The Russian airbase is not really under any threat. I honestly believe that after all the shouting, better communication will develop...........
No mate........
If you are saying that the Turks are right to "defend their interests" in Syria by shooting down people who are bombing their allies, then (given the demonstrable links between the Erdogan regime and IS) you are supporting Islamic State. They are, after all, one of their interests.
Russia is defending Assad, he is not really bombing ISIS. Turkey would like to see Assad, ISIS and Russia gone from its borders........Russia is seeking to impose itself within the Middle East and growing it's naval and Air bases, neither Turkey nor NATO wishes that to happen........and we still have to deal with ISIS........it's complex but in this instance Turkey has done the right thing......
They have links at a governmental level with IS, they bomb and shell groups that fight IS, they facilitate travel to, supply of and medical care for IS. That is how they "deal with ISIS", and its why all of the actions that Erdogan takes should be very critically examined.
As for "Russia is seeking to impose itself within the Middle East", Assad is their one ally there (Iran are Assad's ally, not theirs). Defending one's ally used to be considered in the national interest, especially when they are being destabilized by forces that you have fought in the recent past - and they stayed out of it for at least two years, only stepping in when it looked as if he was doomed. The idea that they are looking to do what Brezhnev failed to do in the 1970s is absurd.
This shoot-down was idiotic.
The "Turkmen rebel commander" mentioned in some reports as admitting shooting at the aircrew whilst they were floating to earth has apparently been identified as a Turkish citizen, part of the Grey Wolves neo-fascist group.
what a cock up, wish Turkey were not in NATO, as both leaders need taking down a peg or two, both got there own agenda in the area and scratch the surface are as bad as each other, expect loads of big talk not much action out of either of them, like two big mouth drunks in a pub saying they are going to murder each other while getting held back by there mates, then let go and they both stand there saying cmon then throw the first dig then i dare you, till one gets fed up and says your not worth it and walks away.
Russia has destroyed 1000 ISIS oil tankers in 5 days. They are legitimately destroying the lifeblood of ISIS. Turkey is livid that they can no longer buy their cheap oil. This is why they downed the Russian jet.
Turkey is ISIS. They are extremists under Erdogan and do not belong in NATO. Turkey will one day be abandoned by both east and west. This is the day they are dust.
Turkey has violated Greek airspace 2300 times in the last year. Russia does it once for 17 seconds whilst bombing ISIS. Do the math
I'll say again. No amount of "wally wally wally" can save them. There will be no wally. Turkey will eventually be split into three pieces which will also suit the Zionists of course but that's another discussion best left for another day.
