North Korea Wondering If They Can Bomb Syria Too

A SPOKESPERSON for the Korean People’s Army has today issued a statement asking the UN and NATO forces if North Korea can bomb Syria too, in a bid to test out their military hardware.
The Minister of the People’s Armed Forces, Pak Yong-sik, made the request yesterday evening in a brief detailing North Korea’s strategy in dealing with rebel forces, Assad forces and the ongoing ISIS threat in Syria.

“Our great leader Kim Jong-un would like to assist in the bombing campaign of Syria with the aid of our nuclear might,” the minister’s statement reads. “We would like to blanket bomb Syria with a series of carefully placed warheads. It won’t take long, and we are confident this whole conflict can be abated in a matter of hours. Besides, why should you guys have all the fun?”

Responding to the request, several NATO member states immediately opposed North Korea’s involvement in the Syrian conflict, claiming a ‘too many cooks spoil the broth’ defence.

“We’ve got France, Russia, the US, Turkey and Israel bombing Syria and the possibility of China and Britain joining in too,” the Chairman of the NATO Military Committee General Petr Pavel explained. “We’ll definitely keep North Korea’s request on file if one of the states decides to back out of the campaign, but it’s looking unlikely due to the amount of kudos involved in bombing whoever the bad guys are these days”.

Along with the countries mentioned, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, the UAE, Bahrain and Qatar have also joined with the US in airstrikes in Syria, despite their conflict of interest.

Follow LIVE UPDATES on Russian warplane shot down at Syria-Turkey border

Putin said the plane was hit by a Turkish warplane as it was traveling at an altitude of 6000 meters about a kilometer from the Turkish border. It was hit by an air-to-air missile launched by a Turkish F-16 jet. The crash site is four kilometers from the border. The plane posed no threat to Turkish national security, he stressed.

Putin said the plane was targeting terrorist targets in the Latakia province of Syria, many of whom came from Russia.

Russia has for a long time been aware of oil going from Syria under the control of terrorists to Turkey, Putin said. The money finances terrorist groups.

IS has big money, hundreds of millions or even billions of dollars, from selling oil. In addition they are protected by the military of an entire nation. One can understand why they are acting so boldly and blatantly. Why they kill people in such atrocious ways. Why they commit terrorist acts across the world, including in the heart of Europe,” the Russian leader said.

The downing of the Russian warplane happened despite Russia signing an agreement with the US to prevent such incidents in Syria, Putin stressed. Turkey claims to be part of the US-led coalition fighting against IS in Syria, he added.

The incident will have grave consequences for Russia’s relations with Turkey, Putin warned.

We have always treated Turkey as not only a close neighbor, but also as a friendly nation,” he said. “I don’t know who has an interest in what happened today, but we certainly don’t.”

The fact that Turkey did not try to contact Russia in the wake of the incident and rushed to call a NATO meeting instead is worrisome, Putin said. It appears that Turkey want NATO to serve the interests of IS, he added.

Putin said Russia respects the regional interests of other nations, but warned the atrocity committed by Turkey would not go without an answer.

Putin was speaking at a meeting with King of Jordan Abdullah II in Sochi, who expressed his condolences to the Russian leader over the loss of a Russian pilot in Tuesday’s incident, as well as the deaths of Russians in the Islamic State bombing of a passenger plane in Egypt.

The two leaders discussed the anti-terrorist effort in Syria and Iraq and the diplomatic effort to find a political solution to the Syrian conflict.

Earlier a Russian Su-24 bomber was shot down by Turkish fighter jets near the Turkish-Syrian border. Turkey claimed that the plane violated Turkish airspace and did not respond to warnings. Ankara said it was rightfully acting to defend its sovereignty.

Russia insists that the plane stayed in the Syrian airspace.

One of the two pilots of the downed Russian warplane was reported killed by a rebel group as he was parachuting down on the ground after ejecting from the plane. The fate of the second pilot remains unknown".

Seems like the Turkish government has decided that parts of Syria are now in Turkey.

Starting to escalate now.

Russia breaks off all military contacts with Turkey and deploys guided missile cruiser off the coast of Syria with orders to destroy all threats to Russian forces in theatre.

This is not going to end well.

It can still end well - if one of the two aircrew did survive and is handed over unharmed it will probably go away quite quickly - but if Erdogan keeps upping the ante he will find himself very alone very quickly, NATO (or at least most of the member nations) are not going to go to the wall for him over this.

One would imagine the Yanks will tell him he either eats humble pie, STFU and never even thinks of doing this again or see the US-led support for the rebels switch to the Kurds, Assad's time in an "interim leadership role" grow a lot longer than it is now and the co-operation between Syria, Russia, Iran, the US and the rest of NATO over this (and other issues) get a lot closer.

Egypt plane bombing; Turkey downing this jet...I cant help think that the West are implicated in this and sending helpful little notes to the Russians to withdraw from the region.

Turkey is a dangerous state allowing rebels (read IS and other dangerous groups) to transport through the country. It should have been removed from NATO a long time ago.
Aye, as they refuse to enter the Eurovision Song Contest for purely Homophobic reasons, the rest of Europe should tell them to GTF

I doubt "the West" are; if anyone is it will be the Turkey / Saudi / Qatar axis who have been the ones pushing the whole Syria thing since it all kicked off and whose proxies were the ones getting the kicking. Obama not having to worry about the next election probably explains why he has fairly consistently (but quietly) jibbed them off for the past few years, both over getting involved in this and over the Iran nuclear thing.

er - Turkish warplanes breached Greek airspace more than two thousand times last year, without any of them being shot down. Even if you accept their version of events, this aircraft breached Turkish airspace a tiny amount and was actually hit whilst it was over Syria - it is utterly unjustifiable.

As for "Turkey is no one's patsy", you are right - we urgently need to work out whose side they (or more correctly, Erdogan and his mob) are on because there is abundant evidence that it is not ours. Our response to this shoot-down should be framed accordingly.

Greece and Turkey are both allies and members of NATO. If French planes flew across UK airspace I'm sure we would not shoot them down. Which bit of "Russia was warned by NATO and Turkey not to do it again" do you not understand......
