Good to see they got the win, how did our boys go?

Ledson got overan in the first half as he was left exposed and 2 on 1 due to the other cm from und pushing forward all the time like a muppet, much better second half as we sat deeper when we went up.
Kenney had a good game looked lively throughout and good delivery and linked up well with morrison from fulham - who was our best player by a good way

Morrison wasn't playing - think you may mean #18 Patrick Roberts who scored the 2nd goal.

Wouldn't mind a cheeky bid for him but doubt Fulham will want to sell, he'll probably be starter for them next season edit sorry, this already discussed higher up the thread

Aye meant roberts mate, cheers for correction :) couldnt remember the lads name and on my phone atm so couldnt check, looked quality he did though, far the most developed and can see him doing really well for them in the championship

The last time England won this back in 2010 was some good players in the squad. Be interesting to see who makes the step up from this team

@LinekersLegs we should be going in for these types every season. Signing 3 players like this over a couple of seasons and we would have a very good balance between local and english youth in the squad.

The three who to me look the ones nailed on would be roberts, kenney and the big centre half (black lad but cant remember his name) few others deffo have potentual but those 3's overall game looked the best, ledson was given a thankless task left alone in the center so hard to evaluate him based on just that game

Agree but it all comes down to money - it is only this year we've made a profit and been in a situation that we don't have to sell to pay bills. We still possibly have to sell to buy.

Tbf on Moyes he did try - Stones for example, or Baines - but he was constantly trying to balance long term success (investing in the youth team) and short term survival (players for the 1st team)

I think the longer moyes was here the more cautious he become with youth, on matchdays at least anyway, he knew we had to develop youthas his signings suggest, but couldnt bring himself to do it

Agree, to a certain extent he was almost a victim of his own success. When he came here he had nothing to lose - the team was in a pretty bad situation and he had a certain freedom. Think he genuinely played how and who he thought was right and let the chips fall where they may.

But after a certain number of years he had a reputation, and a possible transfer to Utd, to protect and I think he chose the safest option. I don't think it was all self motivated - each place in the table made a significant difference to Everton's finances and the ability to sign /retain players - or necessarily conscious as people often get more conservative as they get older.

But I do think at heart he was a pretty good judge on talent, especially for the defensive positions. He'd make a great director of football or chief scout.
