Cleverley would be another Manu reject that we get lured into signing a tthe potential expense of losing one of our betters players in the opposite direction. No, no, no to Cleverley !!!
Because there is a massive gulf between youth and first team football and its not as simple as sticking a kid in the first team form the youth team. Out of the 5 that you have named, the chances are that none of them will make it in the PL, and maybe only a couple will make a living out of football. Thats just how it works. In the past 10 years I think only 2 (Barkley and Rodwell) have made thew leap from the youth set up to playing regular PL footy.
I actually think Ledson might have a shot at making it, but not for a couple of years yet. He needs a few decent loan spells and then maybe a go coming on from the bench.
I think the main issue is that our opinion of how Youth players make the transition has been distorted by how easily Rooney did it.
We'll never know if Ledson can step up unless he's given the chance
