Safari 4 is my browser of choice, as it's pretty cutting edge in terms of features, but still in beta.

This site doesn't work so well with it, and many of the buttons for some reason don't work. Which may well be down to the forum software.

Just given you a heads up for when all the other browsers catch up.

Actually, Opera isn't naff - technically. Plus it's fairly quick and has world class designer Jon Hicks working over their in Sweden sorting out the interface. It does however suffer from ridicule due to it's bizarre decision to charge for it's software.

It's free now, but the damage and bad rep has been done.

I used to use Opera and it was sh*te. I tried out a version a couple of years ago before I made the jump to Firefox.

It is all about opinions, and Firefox is where my opinion lays.

Not saying it's amazing or not. It's just different, but it is faster than Firefox.

For me though, I prefer my browsers to render content over speed, and Safari renders content better than all the browsers.

For example:

inputsubmit.gif

The aqua style design of the Mac browser by trumps the other 2. But like you say, it's all personal tastes and opinions.

I also use Safari first of all because it rates highly up the Web Standards chart, so if my code works in Safari, then the only reason it won't work in any of the other browsers is because they have not caught up, but they will. So I am always ahead of the game - so when they do catch up, I'll be ready.

Thats my Monday geekness out of the way.

I've been using Apple for a number of years and I love the design of the hardware and most of the software. The operating system itself is sublime in comparison to Windows But I find Safari a bit ****e to be honest. I've never taken to it. There's an old fashioned feel to it in my eyes. Plus, like you point out, it's not as stable on certain websites as, for example, Firefox.

Still, I'm with you all the way as to regards everything else Apple.

feels like i went on safari hacking my way through that thread.

browsers are funny as you like the way people get defensive over which one you use to look at exactly the same information.

also... hobbies and jobs... when does a hobby start being a part time job?

are footy players being paid for their hobby?

Professional footballers = Paid and paid well enough to pay their bills, why? Because they are professionals.

Those who aren't good enough, aren't professionals and subsequently aren't able to pay their bills so to them its a hobby, not a profession.

Now replace "footballers" with "web designers".

Glad to clarify that one for you.

so if you can't pay your bills you are not a professional?

what if you buy a mansion but you play for mansfield. you can't afford the house... are you no longer a professional?

or if tim howard owns an island in thailand... he can't afford the bills.. is he no longer a professional?

i thought mosy of the UK was in debt... does that mean most of the population are not professionals?

To be fair mate, it's a fickle business, and some of us have had to take other jobs because there just simply is no work. It is picking up now, but I know mortgage brokers who have not sold a mortgage in over a year, are they not professionals because of the economic climate?
