I don't know mate, Pullis was all about just getting crosses/lobbing the ball into the box as soon as, something that you would think would play to Rondon's strengths.
Yep, but he still wasn't that offensive minded, that Pulis. You're rarely going to score 16+ goals in a Pulis side in the Prem even if you're a better striker than Rondon, solely because chances created will be minimal I would say.

There's a few chances we've missed already this season I think Rondon may have buried. The thing is now we have a proven 2nd striker in the squad and on the bench, and a warning for DCL not to slack, healthy competition for once.

No mug either, 412 pro starts with 168 goals. How long is it since we've had a striker on the bench with that type of record?

Just had a gander on who their leading goal scorers in the prem were when Rondon was there and how many they had scored.

2015/16 - Rondon, 9 goals.
2016/17 - Rondon, 8 goals.
2017/18 - Rondon and Jay Rodriguez, 7 goals.

6 years - Eto’o says ? (445 apps / 232 goals when he arrived)

So we've signed a 32 year old striker on a free from the chinese league?

Tough to get excited about to be honest
Tough to get excited about any player being brought in as back up. Think of it as you would Begovic signing. Sound business but uninspiring.

There were 2 positions we needed to bring in to improve on last years starting XI. Right forward and right back. Although I think Demarai Gray was brought in as cover, he make actually fulfill one of those positions if he carries on in he same form as he's started. Time will tell.

But overall I think we have a slightly better squad than what we started last season with, so it's not backwards. It's just not moving forwards as quickly as we'd like that's all.
