He's also a really underrated crosser of the ball. I dare say he's lost a bit of pace in the two years since he left us, meaning he perhaps wouldn't work the channels so much, but he can certainly whip a ball in. Scored one pearler of a free-kick for us too. I'm sure he's coming in to be a bench option and as someone to rough up defenders and hold the ball up when holding a lead (something we were generally very good at under Rafael btw - professionally closing out a narrow win through proper game management and sensible use of forwards), but the point in making is that he isn't just a battering ram. I was really sceptical when we got him from West Brom but he won us round really quickly.

Rafael was after Gray, Townsend and Rondon with us as far back as 2017ish iirc so he's obviously always wanted them and has a particular vision in mind. Dwight McNeil is another link you can expect.

It's been confirmed he didn't travel to Venezuela so he doesn't have to go through the whole isolation rigmarole. Good news for us - gives us the chance to give DCL additional time to recover and play Rondon against Burnley.

It's kind of amusing some of the hope we get beat crowd proberly hoped Gray would fail, he hasnt, then Townsend, who has also been decent, now they are pinning there hope's on Rondon being the stinker they need!!

To be fair mate we're only 3 prem games in so I think it's a tad premature to say they have been success' just yet, but once they signed (including Rondon) we should back them and want them to turn out boss, it would be mad not to want that. Gray and Townsend though have been really good and have made a big difference, especially Gray, so fingers crossed they can keep that form going.

Not being funny but I can't accept there are lads out there who want us to get beat just because of Benitez being our manager. I didn't want him here, nothing to do with what he said about us etc but I've just never liked him and that was before we were even linked with him. I've said it many times, he's our manager now and he'll get time off me to do the job because if he does well then that means we have as a club done well and that's all what matters to me, still doesn't mean I have to like him.

Don't think anyone hopes we get beat. As said numerous times by numerous people, you can want us to win but also not like or want the manager at the club, same with players. They aren't mutually exclusive ideas.

It's a lazy comment to keep shouting about.
