Surely the whole point of the move for the player is that he gets to play for a relevant team in a relevant league with a manager he's worked with before. He is not holding us to ransom on his pay packet, in the same way Townsend and Gray wouldn't have.

If he's desperate for the wage he's currently on, he can stay where he is.

Im not saying they cant but its no good for their long term development.

Fans always think we have a raft of top drawer kids in the academy ready to come in and bag goals when the reality is most of our youngsters are either bobbins or still wet behind the ears and need 90 minutes week in week out at a lower level to develop as players.

Imagine we’ve sign rondon 4 seasons ago. Repeatedly send DCL on loan, depriving him of the chance to work under Duncan week in week out.

After 2 season of loan, DCL will unlikely be the same player he is now. Simm is at a similar stage. 10, 15 mins of game time in the premier league is long overdue. We will never know if he is good enough if we don’t play him at some stage.

Fine as back up. Given how little we got out of Kean and took a loss on him, if he gives DCL a breather and scores a few it'll be okay.

But man, if folk moan about DCLs finishing on here, Rondons is erratic too. Albion season ticket holding chums of mine think he's verrry frustrating.

Fair enough mate still think if DCL gone out on loan he would have developed just as much.

Harry Kane and Tammy Abraham two top strikers who went out on loan to the championship and it did them no harm..

James took an 80-90k cut to come here last summer from one of the biggest clubs in world football

Rondon wants out of China so will happily take a cut to do so, especially for a manager he knows well

Useful as a late game hold-up player/battering ram. His goalscoring record in England is obviously quite average but he has played for very uninspired sides that created next to nothing for him.

Actually think he's alright back-up for DcL. Will allow Benitez to play a similar style if DcL is out rather than us having to dramatically change our style in those circumstances.
