There was no midfield our players were so deep it was just a line across our area now and again Tosun broke out and was isolated by a massive gap that resembled no mans land right across the middle of the pitch
there was no tactics the lads just watched war movies prior to the fixture
we just sat there and let the best team in Europe do what they want

They weren't though at all. He didn't pick a team to park the bus or defend a la Anfield, he picked a strange hybrid that has never been seen before against the runaway champions elect.

In the first half the gaps between midfiend and defence were startling and the back line was often way too high. It was only after the game was lost in the second half that we defending with any semblance of shape and with men deep.

The lack of nous and inability to adapt mid-half was shambolic and frankly embarrassing for a coach on SIX MILLION POUND PER YEAR. Complete rabbit in the headlights moment for him today, he was decades behind in tactical thinking.

He seems to have no clue how to manage a game. Its either full on park the bus, or when he does play an attacking team as soon as we start losing he starts subbing attacking players for defensive ones (benni on for DCL today).

We did show a lot more fight and backbone though and we made better use of Calvert -Lewin.
However the point I was gently alluding to was the fact that he was sacked nevertheless yet this parasite looks set for another season.

I think that too :(

And it is like a great big big cloud hanging over Evertonia right now.

Unusually at this stage of an awful season like this one has been, people are just wanting it out the way and are already looking forward to starting again come August.

But no one I spoke to today has any enthusiasm whatever for the next campaign.

And I lost count of the people in the pub and in the ground who were saying they are either not renewing or are still undecided about doing so.

And they say the club have been sending email and texts trying to gee them up.

This club is in a real bad place at the moment and no mistake.

The worst feeling for myself is a performance like that isn't a surprise. I watched as the city fans cheered and were thoroughly enjoying watching their side. A very expensive side yes but it's how you spend that money.

Then I look at us, the manager, the stadium, the atmosphere, the players... my heart sank. We just exist in the Premier League, another team that is just there, gets the odd decent result or cup run but never really shakes things up when it matters the most.

I can't even bring myself to hate him because what he is, the way he acts, what he says...has been there for all to see since he came into this league years ago. At his age, he isn't going to change, adapt or find a new beginning. He is going to get a very generous salary each week, chew his gum, drink his dogs urine and continue the "Big Sam" circus.

I blame the players who are, except for maybe three or four, disinterested, over rated phoneys and most of all I blame the people above Allardyce, some of whom have been on that board far too long than what a truly ambitious and successful football club would tolerate. Yet here we are. The people who pushed that "be careful what you wish for" mantra over the years, I don't need to say anything to you.

In a way this season could be a positive looking back, it could be the season more had woken up to the mediocre club it now is and who is responsible for that. Maybe it could see more fans thinking this club could be better rather than "hey don't want to be Leeds lad".

Some of our fans massively piss me off. We were watching City show us how to play football, Keane then hoofs it up the pitch, it goes out of play, and thousands start clapping it.

State of this club.
They're the boss blues though, you know the ones the 'happy clappers' the same ones who are excepting Allardyce as manager and probably wanted Mark Hughes as well...

One of the worst signings in our entire history for sure. 150k a week guaranteed over two years despite the fact everybody knew he was finished three years ago. Disgusting.
Not sure this is true, there are plenty nowhere near as good as him.....and he has actually had some success, one bit of which is probably one of the best goals I have ever seen

Anyone have an idea what our plan was last night with our without the ball? Off the ball, we played like an u9s team without the enthusiasm - we went chasing the ball and pushed up, problem was we never got close to the ball to make a challenge or cause them any difficulty at all, they simply moved the ball quick behind the huge space our half hearted attempts to close space created.

Look at the second goal for a perfect example of how not to press or stay in shape, we ended up marking three on three at our half way line when our midfield decided it was sensible to all get nosebleeds and wander aimlessly upfield to do something - think it was to look at a ball twenty yards ahead of them knowing they’d be running back towards their own goal seconds later. Shocking. And it wasn’t just that goal, it happened far too often.

With the ball, we varied from booting it upfield to no-one in particular, to simply getting man marked in the hope the ball didn’t arrive at their feet. I felt for Walcott, he will get stick for a no show but he gets no service to effect the game so when he gets the ball he is too deep to attack the final third. Our inability to hold the ball is embarrassing for a Premiership side, we are so uncomfortable in possession and lack the craft to cause any decent side a problem. We desperately need an identity and style of play that suits the players - imagine if we bought players to suit a particular style and had a game plan - rather than randomly picking up whoever is available. One step at a time eh!

Let’s get the DoF & Manager in ahead of the World Cup, lose the deadwood in and around the first team & there are probably 8 who fit into that category and start again. In the meantime let’s have a proper look at Beni, Vlasic, even Klaassen has to get minutes so we know one way or the other and use the remaining games as a platform for the future.

Or, persist with players like Schneiderlin, Williams, Jagielka because that’s been working hasn’t it.

Only Everton manager we've had since HK to want to play football was hounded out of the club for "Dat tiki taka rubbish, lad".

Those people wanted players to "get stuck in, lad" and "play for der shiiiiiirt, lad".

I do hope they're happy now watching us play like an ale house team and being an utter laughing stock in the eyes of just about anyone who knows anything about football.
