Sam Allardyce dampens Everton exit talk by revealing detailed summer plans... as he also claims Wayne Rooney DOES have long-term role to play at Goodison Park
  • Sam Allardyce has hinted he will stay at Goodison Park beyond the summer
  • The under pressure Everton boss unveiled detailed pre-season plans on Friday
  • Paulo Fonseca and Marco Silva have both been heavily linked with the job
  • Allardyce also insisted Wayne Rooney does have a long-term role to play
Sam Allardyce has given an indication he could yet be Everton's manager next year after revealing detailed plans for pre-season.

There has been significant speculation over the 63-year-old's future at Goodison Park, with Shakhtar Donetsk manager Paulo Fonseca and Marco Silva, who was approached last October following the sacking of Ronald Koeman, linked with his job.

Farhad Moshiri, the club's major shareholder, has not given any indication about what plans he has in place to bring about improvement but changes are expected with Marcel Brands expected to arrive from PSV Eindhoven as Director of Football and Chief Executive Robert Elstone set to leave.

Allardyce, though, is preparing as if he will be in charge of the 2018-19 campaign and has outlined a schedule that will see Everton head to Austria for a rigorous training camp before playing a number of friendliness that will conclude with a match against top European opposition at Goodison.

'Steve Walsh is doing a lot for next season and the board and myself will come together to make those plans at the end of this season,' said Allardyce.. 'What I have to concentrate on is finishing as strong as we can. Our pre-season is in place, so really there will only be recruitment after that.'

There will be several changes to the playing staff, with Allardyce looking to trim down a squad of 38 down to '26 or 27' and make quality additions. He has done nothing to quell speculation about a move for Arsenal's Jack Wilshere, who is out of contract.

But Wayne Rooney, Allardyce insists, has a long-term role to play. Rooney has spoken with Allardyce this week following the angry reaction to his substitution in the Merseyside derby but there is no lingering problem.

'A reaction from a player of disappointment when he comes off is to be expected,' said Allardyce. 'You would ask them not to do it in the public eye but sometimes that can't be helped. He is proud being an Everton fan and that's where the reaction came from.'

1) the daily fail
2) he can prepare all he wants it’s not gonna change if he’s sacked
3) If he is definitely staying Moshiri or Sam would have said moshiri has told me I am staying.
4) Not really detailed summer plans is it, we’re gonna train somewhere else and then buy some players, so what

He said in the press conference that he hasn't spoken to the board yet about the summer or next season.

Soooo....

That's a good sign that he's probably on his way. If squad is to be culled from 38 to 25,it would be better for new manager to do it rather than BFS - he'd probably get rid of everyone except for Schneiderlin & Martina!

When asked should the board/majority shareholder come out publicly and back him he replied along the lines of "that would be helpful".

Speaks volumes that. Nothing to worry about - he will be gone at the season's end.
