Like there are players that don't want to build success but ride on the coattails of those before, I reckon Managers are the same. I doubt we'll get a top shelf Manager next up. I think that's why Koeman was chosen. The thought being that he'd take us to Cl maybe & then we'd be more attractive to the top tier Managers because the hard work was done.

Didn't really work out though did it.

We are not a club that needs his attributes, we’re not struggling to stay in the league
When our major investor was on the phone to Sam, the evening of the latest collapse to Southampton this time, we had just gone nine games in a row where we had conceeded at least 2 goals a game.
I doubt Mosh would have been reassured that his £100m+ investment was safe by anyone telling him we're not struggling to stay in the Prem.

Going to have to be a 9-1 formation with an emphasis on not conceding at all for 90 minutes.

If they score first it's going to be a very difficult game and the game plan he has to nullify that 62 goal attack will ripped up where we leave gaps looking for a equaliser.

Which is why it would be madness to play like that.

No way we will keep them out for 90 minutes if we just cede the pitch to them and put nine men behind the ball.

Probably won't keep them out anyway, no matter what formation we play.

We will have to score two goals at least to get owt from the game IMO.

Their defence is their weakness as many teams have shown this season.

I am not saying go gung ho but we need to be spending a fair bit of time in their half both to give ourselves a chance of scoring and to give the defence some relief.

People keep saying their defence is bad and it is, at times, but they have conceded only 2 league goals at home so far.

Is that all?

Heck....things are worse than I though then :(

We will have to find a way to score though as we are not keeping them out for ninety minutes.

His usual remit at a crisis club is simply to survive. He's been exceptionally good at it. That's why Mosh is paying him £6m.
For us his remit is survive and stabilise. I think he's by far the best candidate for the job and he'll be successful within that remit.
Wish he could have been only contracted until summer though as I think there are better candidates to take a stable club on from there.
18 months is a face saver for Allardyce. It wont go beyond the summer, IMO.

...and we didn't need him either. There was no fire-fighting job required here. By the time he took charge we were already a short step from midtable.

That’s because most teams are frightened to attack them because of their counter attacking, which is devastating at times.

So after one win we’re top half, absolute needless arse twitching from the fans and board! Yes it was a bad situation but look around at the players and managers at the clubs who are down there, we were never getting into a relegation battle. We have been shambolic this season and we’re 10th. We’re closer to Spurs in 6th than the bottom 3 (in points) says a lot about the league really that’s why i never thought we were in a relegation battle!

The idea that we weren't in a relegation battle is fanciful, we could easily get dragged back in to the morass still. No one saw us humping West Ham 4-0, even the biggest optimists called a narrow win with us conceding at least one goal and the Huddersfield game could have gone either way.
I agree that BFS is a desperation move and that, had we moved more decisively in the immediate aftermath of the moonhead sacking, we could have been bolder with our management choices but this squad with no forwards and no defenders remains at risk.
