After the years of RM and RK we are at something of a hiatus with Sam coming in. Apparently with an 18 month contract now if he were to go in the summer it would cost the club a good deal of money for him and his support staff. He may stay for the whole of the contract, okay but to replace him to take us further forward than Sam perhaps is capable of that is the question. It is a big who, to get the likes of names mentioned like Fonseca, Silva, Simeone they have to be attracted to the club but how - is it just a big pay packet? or will they show any allegiance to our club, some how I have doubts on that. We need a manager who is going to make a success of it and that may well need more than 3 years, will any of those names be prepared to do that or just see us as a stepping stone to Real, Barca, PSG or Bayern. Here is the reality, is there another Catterick or Kendall out there?

There is a thread some where of a reality check talking of Sam's stay here. They need to look a bit further at the"real" reality.

Ideas anyone?

It's kind of eery isn't it?
Hey lads! Take Kevin out the oven. He should be done now! Ho Ho Ho........

People are naive if they think Allardyce is going to change his tactics that he has shown throughout his managerial career. Likewise guardiola and mourinho, both have there styles of management. Guardiola’s teams have always been fluid attacking teams with the emphasis on attack and possession. Mourinho’s teams are more pragmatic, built on a solid defence, with a strong physical presence through the spine of the team. These are arguably two of the most successful managers in recent history, they don’t change their style of play, so why do we think allardyce will be anything different? We will adopt a similar style to mourinho, build from the back, look to have a physical presence in the side and not play too expansive a style of football, that leads us open at the back. Allardyce in my mind was brought here to stabilise the club, not rebuild it. That will come with the next manager appointed. My guess it will be silva next summer.
He is what he is: a bog standard manager who's managed to keep 7 clubs in the PL by hook or by crook.

He isn't going to become Bielsa overnight.

Maybe Dave maybe but who to bring in, that is the question. We do not want a cock up like the one we just had.
Well, I'd imagine the groundwokrk has already been laid on that one. There was an intense 6 week search and I;d be surprised if they weren't given encouragement to call back after contracts have run out/down to trigger a clause...I'd say that was why a short term plug the gap manager like Allardyce has been employed.

That's a contradiction. Bog standard managers don't consistently succeed in keeping crisis clubs up. He's good at what he does unglamorous though it may be.

It's the definition of bog standard for me.

I'm not violently against Allardyce. I hope he does well. But it's futile trying to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear. We'd have all laughed if another club in our bracket had got him, and we know it.

We are not a club that needs his attributes, we’re not struggling to stay in the league

Going to have to be a 9-1 formation with an emphasis on not conceding at all for 90 minutes.

If they score first it's going to be a very difficult game and the game plan he has to nullify that 62 goal attack will ripped up where we leave gaps looking for a equaliser.

His usual remit at a crisis club is simply to survive. He's been exceptionally good at it. That's why Mosh is paying him £6m.
For us his remit is survive and stabilise. I think he's by far the best candidate for the job and he'll be successful within that remit.
Wish he could have been only contracted until summer though as I think there are better candidates to take a stable club on from there.
