I think theres a good chance Sam has already been told he's here till Christmas. His job next season will be to lay the groundwork for a new manager. What appeals to Moshiri about Sam is that he does what it says on the tin,and giving SAm the first half at least of next season with a particular brief to steady the ship, get rid of the wasters, etc for the new man to come in is well within SAms capabilities. Sam Allardyce is not a stupid man....he has limits to his management capability at the highest level, but he always does what he's asked to do. His press conferences are meaningless, but then most pressers are meaningless. Its what is said between Mosh and Sam in private that is critical.
makes no sense this whatsoever . New season, new start

Cards on the table here, I'm not an Everton fan, first post on this board and I was just dropping by to see what real Everton fans were thinking about Sam Allardyce.

And I gotta say, I'm a little surprised, I knew there would be some negativity, I didn't think it was gonna be this bad though!

Of course it is your right to hound out any manager you like, but I dunno, I think he has done a decent job so far from where I'm sitting. I'm not really sure where you expected to be after 5 months?

I get it though, the football hasn't been great, results have been mixed, but with all due respect, I don't think anyone was going to come in and have you playing like Barcelona. And if you look at the table since the day he was appointed on November 30th, Everton are actually joint 6th with Burnley on points (with Arsenal down to 8th). That's not bad going considering the mess you were in before he arrived.

And Allardyce has actually got a decent track record in the transfer market in his past, and got the best out of some very good players like Jay-Jay Okocha, Djorkaeff, Campo, Zaha, he performed an absolute miracle at Sunderland 2 years ago (look at where they are now), got some great results at Palace last year, I just don't think he is as rubbish as some of you think.

It was only a couple of years ago, you guys wanted Mourinho in charge, and he's spent £400m since and is still playing turgid football.

If it were Mourinho or Simeone appointed instead of Sam Allardyce, and they had got exactly the same results and exactly the same performances, I think you guys would be giving them the benefit of the doubt, in fact you would be looking at next season full of optimism.

And I actually think Allardyce will be in charge next season, you look at it from the owners point of view, rightly or wrongly are you really going to risk your investment in bringing in a new guy and having the struggles start all over again next season?

So really, you have a choice, hound the guy out, and you will probably succeed in getting him out next season as I think it would be difficult for anyone to do their job properly with that kind of negativity going on, but you would be sabotaging yourselves, or try and get behind him (albeit through gritted teeth)... I think you will push on next year if he is given support.

Anyway, I think Everton are a great traditional club with great fans, I always look out for your results and try and watch you on TV, & wish you all the best for next season.

(I realise I'm probably going to get some abuse for this post, that's cool, I know what is like when you've made your mind up that someone is rubbish, and almost nothing short of miracles can change your mind, but I just don't think he is as bad a manager as some of you think).

Why would Moshiri want to give Allardyce a budget in the summer to rebuild the squad when he had no intention of keeping him beyond Christmas and the new man might not be having the players he spent the summer bringing in?

That makes zero sense from either angle, football or business.

Firstly welcome to GOT,whos your team by the way?
You say he has a decent track record of signing then list four, 3 of which were from twenty years ago and the other is a player who went back to his old club after not fitting in at Man United, the miracle at Sunderland was as much down to the failure of Benetiz than down to great tactical genius from Sam

17% possession, at home, against our biggest rivals who concede possession for counter attacking football. At or near the bottom in nearly every metric that shows we would be going the "right" direction, such as shots, shots on target, possession, shots against.

A manager who deflects any criticism as 'it's only a small minority', blames the players when his obvious tactics are at fault, takes credit for fluke goals and wins.

He's hasn't adapted, he's not going to adapt.

No thank you Mr Neutral. Nice try though. Certain individuals within any organisation should represent the values of that organisation. I'll leave it there.

Thanks for posting mate but I think we'll stick to what our own eyes see and ears hear and that is a knobhead of a manager out of his depth for what we require and the sooner he runs along to his West Broms or Sunderlands or West Hams the better for all concerned

no absue mate, i think you're entitled to your opinion. What i'd ask is how much you've actually watched us under Allardyce and not just those 3 minutes we get at the end of Match of the Day. The football is dire my friend, actually it's worse than that.
Football fans have short memories and most follow the narative Sky Sports or BT peddle and they have labelled us as a mid table team happy to make up the numbers, lucky to have a manager who will keep us in the league... what more do Everton expect, what do Everton want?? Over the last 10 years we have finished seven season top 7 or higher and four of them in the top 6. We've been consistantly one of the best of the rest until recently and given the investment into the team since Moshiri came in it's not unreasonable to expect that again if not a little more. As for Fat Sam, i wouldn't wish him on our greatest rival (well actually....). The man isn't fit to manage this club.
Just out of interest who do you support?

It was all going so well for you until this slip up.

Everton fans wanting Mourinho was not something widely reported at all, In fact, it was only really the esk when he was on here stoking rumours about it. Therefore if you really were a complete neutral just popping into the forum for the first time it’s highly unlikely you would know that.

The only people I ever hear call Mourinho’s football turgid are kopites and kopite pundits. This is borne out of their natural jealousy for the world’s greatest manager who won more last year than Liverpool have in a decade. He is also the man who crushed their dreams that glorious day at Anfield when he took a B team and derailed theif only meaningful title challenge in 28 years. His ‘turgid’ football currently sees them sitting ahead of Liverpool this season as well and he once again has the chance to add another trophy to his cabinet that would be a greater achievement than anything Liverpool have done for a decade.

I respectfully disagree with your entire post.

We aren’t Sunderland or Palace. And he’s moved us from 12th to 9th. He had no Europe, no cups to worry about, and he missed the tough part of our schedule. He also bought 50M of players in January. His tactics have been poor, he had insulted the fans while fanning his own ego, and continually played the wrong guys and blamed everyone else. He’s even made up facts to support his record.

We should at least be pushing for 7th, simple as that. Instead he’s playing for draws at Swans.
