The biggest issue with the Allardyce appointment is in relation to where go after him.
Say he stabilises the club (the defence in particular) and we get to next summer or whenever and it's agreed he moves on.
Do we stay with that type of manager? A Dyche?
Or are we going to return to a more technical, possession based manager? If so, Moshiri has to then back him unlike he did Martinez.
Or say - and I can scarcely believe I'm actually saying this myself - he actually galvanises the team, with more quality players, and takes us to the next level? If I suspend my own disbelief for a second, I have to say to be fair that BFS has not to my recollection been given the quality and spending power he now has. He's mostly worked with basket cases and has come close to actually getting a sparkle from the turd on a few occasions. The management team we now have in is the one that was chosen to manage the England team 18 months ago. Now I know that might not be the most fashionable thing to say, but they were perceived to be the best available.
I see what they've done in setting an 18 month contract, but there is an interesting 'what if' scenario...
