Well I may be in the minority, but I'm happy with Big Sam. He's a far better manager than some of you give him credit for.

We've got 8 games between now & the Jan window. If any man can get the best out of this squad, he can.

You can be certain he's already wheeling & dealing to get players in, unlike that Dutch Moyes gimp we just got shut of.

COYB!!!!!!!!
Well said. Agree.

But we are then in a fight to avoid being in the fight come March then, matey.

Please, look at the table. We're only five points clear.

We fail to beat Huddersfield come Saturday, and others below us manage to get wins - which isn't unfeasible - and we're pretty much back where we were yesterday. It's that close at the moment.
I know it’s close mate just like we’re only 6 points of 8th!! We’ve been absolutely rotten this season and that won’t continue with some of the quality in the squad. There are 6-7 really poor teams in our league that are just simply not good enough, even though we’re in amongst them at the minute I believe that’s down to poor form not being a poor team! That’s why I don’t believe we were or are in relegation battle. We could quite easily go on a 7-8 game unbeaten run. Those teams below us couldn’t

It's a very high stakes game though. Silva could be the genuine article or he could be having a Martinez first season. We can't be going out spending £10 million compensation to clubs every 18 months because we keep rolling the dice on the new flavour of the month. Dyce certainly would have been a less exotic but very credible appointment.
It's false economy though spending out £15M-£20M or so for Allardyce when you'll just have to change again in 18 months to two years max.

I admire your optimism mate, really do

But we've shown nothing to suggest we can do that imo

Still no official announcement made yet, we’ll done Everton ;)
Wish him all the luck in the world (never thought I’d be saying that about dinosaur head) and he’ll have my support  because this club will always take priority over my personal feelings or preferences ;)

There's probably a fight going on amongst them to see which poor soul has to go and sit next to him at the press conference! i.e "Wasn't me guv honest"!!!!

I wonder if he has been brought in to loosen Kenwrights grip behind the scenes with all the old boys, get shut and replace them with Sams men? as well as to keep us up .

Wasn’t expecting to win the impending Derby game due to recent events, however, there is of course a second in April, by which time Colman will be back and seasoned plus it’s a home game.

Add to the mix the vast improvements in Williams’ recent performances and Holgate’s last night (best I’ve seen him play for the first team), I’d say Alladyce is surplus to requirements.

I do see that side too. He is far from ideal. We are in a predicament were by we can't attract anyone top level while we sell the likes of Lukaku and don't replace them effectively.
We have now sacked a manager we fought very hard to get 2 summers back and we'd just be replacing him with a like for like steady pair of hands.
The hope for me was Keoman would have had us in European places with good runs in cup comps and build from there either with Keoman or another suitable aspirational appointment. Having witnessed how we have spunked the Lukaku money and handled player recruitment no big name is coming for now.
It is back to being steady and aspirational again, hopefully getting some proper movement on the stadium and becoming attractive.
All a bit disheartening quite frankly. A lot of the players and upper management / directors ought to be thoroughly ashamed.
