Actually I think that would suit him down to the ground! If things go belly up next season he’d already have his perfect excuse “Well I didn’t buy the players over the summer I didn’t have a say”.

He can also start the season on the front foot with the blame game :

" I`d like to have got more quality in, but due to financial restraints, I`ve had to largely make do with what I`ve got ".

" I`d like to have been unable to play more adventurous football, but with the players I`ve got at my disposal, that hasn`t been possible ".

Welcome back hoooooooooooooooooooooofball ;)

The fans clear number one choice is out of contract soon. If we're to believe that we also made a bid for him back in November (?) then he's also the boards, or Moshiri's at least, number one choice. Why then would we keep this oaf and not make a move for him, assuming that he'd also be much more of a fit for brands should he appear? I know we're pretty dumb when it comes to this kinda thing but even I can't believe we'd be stupid enough not to make a move for Fonseca.

I genuinely don’t understand the point in keeping him on for another 12 months if they don’t (and they shouldn’t) see him as a long term option.

You simply don’t let a man spend millions in the transfer market on players he wants, for just 12 months before getting someone else in who may not fancy them.

He’s already publicly stated he’d listen to offers for Lookman and recommend to the board doing a deal if the money is right. Surely they wouldn’t listen to him!?

There’s no way you can sell a talented 20 year old kid with huge potential and at least a decade of football in him, on the say so of a manager who is only going to be there at most, another 12 months.

That just makes zero sense. They have to make a choice, either commit to him longer term and offer a longer contract and back him (not my choice BTW!!), or sack him in the summer.

Absolutely baffling to just let him see out the remaining year. That’s just a year wasted and as I said makes no sense whatsoever.

Blimey, when were the fans asked to make their choice? If by fans you mean the few dozen who write on this and other sites, we hardly represent anything at all. Even a few keyboard bandits can't agree, so God knows what the other 28,000 believe or want, except very probably that Sam should go.

Judging by the banners the other night the Anti Sam group has about as much clout as a wet sponge. A ground full of clappers.

Small things and all that mate.

It`ll give others the confidence to start protesting.

Look at the end of the Martinez reign, the protests started off with a handful and quickly grew in numbers.

I always have a little giggle when people say things like "Moshiri wouldn't do that" or "If Moshiri is going to splash his cash"

Probably the people with the faintest of ideas.

That would make no sense at all.

None whatever.

Which is why I am now firmly of the opinion that far from getting shut of him, he will be given another year on his deal
