The fact Burnley are 7th tells you everything. Even Arsenal and to some extent Chelsea have been terrible. Being 8th isn’t something to shout out about with the rubbish in the league this season.

it also tells you Everton are gash but the blame surely lies with the Dutchman on this,

he spent all that money and made us a worse team.

The league is rubbish..... when 3/4 of the league is garbage then it's predominantly exactly that.

How long have we taken pot shots at Scotland for being a 2 or 3 team league. We are headed there.

We are already there.

And only Manchester United stand in the way of Manchester City PSGing the EPL.

For me with this guy, it’s about him, not us, that drives much of the hostility. He wasn’t a favoured or popular choice by the Board, he even publicly withdrew his interest as we dithered, desperately hoping Unsworth could steady the ship. The embarrassment of seeing Big Joe being asked to leave the dugout at St Mary’s was particularly embarrassing. For the West Ham game, the penalty miss was a huge turning point as had they equalised I doubt we’d have had the confidence to take the game to them. But let’s be under no illusions that was his win, not Sam Allardyce’s, he was in the dugout and the named Manager to the Premiership.

For Allardyce, he had us over a barrel and let’s not forget his his huge entourage. Lee actually comes through this episode with limited criticism, stays out of the press, screams encouragement and appears popular with the players given his style. What no outsider seems to understand or accept that the hostility towards Allardyce is his I won, we drew, they lost attitude. Never misses an opportunity to talk about what he’s done to propel us up to eight. So that’s should be applauded? No chance. The return of the recognised fullbacks and a pacy winger & competent front man costing £50m could hardly have taken us backwards could it.

But he can’t drop the ego act, I can’t pass the ball for them approach, the statements about Lookman, treatment of Klaassen, Vlasic & lack of identity we have prompting us to have the fewest shots on target and surrender in mental attitude against any side possessing quality is the problem. His friends in the media champion his tenure, he talks of doing the job he was asked to do. I think he has done the absolute minimum which is in direct contrast to our motto.

He ain’t solely responsible for the malaise around the club, the lack of communication from our Board is a massive contributor too. We need to shake hands and move on...he doesn’t lose out does he? £6m to stay or go....it’s probably only his ego that sees the latter! Let’s see.

Good post, spot on

Superb

It is indeed a mad world. Prior to the West Ham game we let in 27 goals in 9 games. Even the Saints scored 4 against us. We were in a relegation fight and fans were s****ing themselves. Sam has brought stability to the defence, coaxed a few half-decent performances from players who fans had written off, and taken us to 8th in the league. Yes there's no doubt we could do better with a change of boss, but we could also do a lot worse, and most other PL clubs who changed manager mid-season did do a lot worse than us, so be careful what you wish for. It's a mad world where a manager who delivers results that exceed expectations gets reviled by fans indignant that he hasn't been sacked, and not content with this you're now treating fans who aren't convinced that he should be sacked as though they're idiots.

I understand the sentiment in your post but I can't agree with it. At the very best allerdyce will keep us at the same position we are in now bobbling round mid table.

Essentially we'll just be standing still and standing still in the premier league is the same as going backwards. The top teams will get further away and the teams below us will get closer.

Look at the teams that have just enjoyed "staying" in the premier league Fulham, villa, stoke, wba, Swansea, Sunderland, Newcastle, Norwich, Middlesbrough, Wigan. That's just a few, notice a pattern to any of them?

This summer there are some seriously top managers available and for us to pass up a chance at getting one of them in because we are essential scared of being worse off then having allerdyce as our manager. That, quite frankly is mental and a sad day in our clubs history if it turns out to be What happens.
